D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

RPG companies like to do that too. One RPG company comes up with the idea of moving the ASIs from species to background, and then the next thing you know another RPG is doing something similar. I think PF2 started this trend while also having fixed ASIs assigned to ancestry and class. Then Level...

D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

So much for my Insight check. :pNow I have to wonder if Pathfinder 2nd edition was successful or not at this.

D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

I am not sure Pathfinder 1st edition was successful at filing off the serial numbers that connected it to 3e/3.5e. If Paizo had been successful at filing off the serial numbers, it wouldn't have been called by some players, 3.75e D&D.

D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

Knowing Elon, he probably would seek to remake D&D into something like the Oasis in Ready Player One. :p

    D&D 5E (2024) Simplifying Dual Wielding in 5e-2024

Here's how Level Up handled Dual Wielding: Two-Weapon Fighting When you take the Attack action and attack with a weapon that does not have the heavy property that you are wielding in one hand, you can use your bonus action to attack with a different dual-wielding melee weapon that you are...

D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

We're going to have come up with yet another poll. "Who Inherits D&D from WoTC?" As for the print books- "Well kids, once upon a time old-timers such as myself actually used printed books to role-play earlier editions of D&D..." :p

D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

True, D&D has been around for 50 years. First under TSR as 1e and 2e, and then under Hasbro/WoTC as 3e, 4e, 5e and 5.5e. However, the collapse of Hasbro is more likely to bring down WoTC IMO. D&D would still exist for those who role-play it as a TTRPG or as a VTTRPG.

D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

Whereas some folk on EN World's forums do know someone who has done some work for Level Up: A5e. ;) Either directly through EN Publishing, or through a 3pp like Purple Martin Games. And these individuals do drop by every now and then on EN World's forums to say hi to the rest of us, offer up an...

    The EN World Selfie Thread

If it makes you feel any better, we're still in our teens as far as the elves and dwarves are concerned. :p Age is relative. ;) I was nearing my 30's way back then.

    D&D 5E (2024) [HOMEBREW] Ranger Ideas +

This would make the duration for Hunter's Mark and every other spell that requires concentration actually sound more plausible to me. :p Currently it's more like a focus-based activity.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Not just brew up their own Ranger, but to post it here on EN World for everyone to see. Let the rest of us be taste-testers of your brew. ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Exactly. :) Laser Llama's Ranger had it where your Ranger could take up a series of knacks to become a stealth expert, a survivalist, a slayer, a movement expert, etc. Or somewhere in-between as your character could gain up to 10 knacks by the time they reached level 20.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

If a class has a feature that allows you to customize it to your satisfaction, then you can take it any direction you want.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

PF1 used the term Hunter Tricks for one of its' Ranger archetypes. Level Up otoh used the term Exploration Knacks for anyone to customize their Ranger into the type of Ranger they wanted. The Ranger in 2014 and 2024 acts more like a one-size-fits-all class.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

It's also in the eye of the figurative (not literal) beholder. People tend to see themselves as reasonable until proven otherwise.

Especially a 6th-level Bugbear Ranger (Gloom Stalker)/ 4th-level Rogue (Scout).

D&D General Rangers should be built on a primary and secondary stat

Is this why the new Ranger Class relies so heavily on Hunter's Mark?

3PP Release New crowdfunding coming: Martial Artistry: A Compendium of Combat for A5e and 5e! (AMA!)

Just became the 54th person to back Martial Artistry. :) Last time I checked, $2,840 out of the $5,000 goal has already been met. :)

D&D General Rangers should be built on a primary and secondary stat

How would making the Ranger into a subclass be any better than it is now? Especially when the classes that it could be made into a subclass have so few levels going to a subclass to begin with.
