A question for basic D&D fans

Hmmm, it's been a while, but as I remember it: Weapon Mastery: yes, that's there War Machine: yes Mystara Geography: yes, in condensed form, with some maps Rules for Governing Kingdoms: I think so, not sure All the Monsters: Not sure about 'all', but there's certainly a lot there Immortal Rules...

A big honkin' medieval ocean liner.

Dungeon Magazine Dungeon #55 had a murder mystery on a cruise ship. I ran it several years ago and we had fun. It is called "The Sea Wolf" and was written by Lisa Smedman.

A challenge to all. Can you decipher this message? :-)

Eel filth she non king I like the overall puzzle structure: very smart and just difficult enough to be challenging. The anagrams themselves are very tough though. Unless your players are very familiar with the solution phrases, 'Region of Dreams', 'Eye of the Dreamheart' etc. then I think...

    Bracelet of friends overpowered?

Yep, I noticed this one too. It's particularly deadly when you summon someone into a hostile environment: deep underwater, lava lake, airless void etc. ;)

The Heretic of Wyre - Part II

I just wanted to add to the chorus of thanks and praise for Sepulchrave and the players. The quality of writing and roleplaying here is astonishing and compelling. [Also, while I'm here, this great little quote below ranks as one of my all-time favorite story hour moments, alongside Wulf's...

    Power Attack and Statistics

Actually, I do remember a rather similar thread several months ago on this same subject. It was started by the author of this spreadsheet (or a similar tool) if I remember correctly.

    Computer Paper to Scroll Paper???

I've had luck with the following: Laser print document (inkjet ink will run) Scrunch up paper tightly and unwrap Stain paper liberally with a tea bag Dry at low heat in oven Tear edges of paper using a ruler as a guide ... and for seals: Drip hot wax onto document Wait until almost set Press...

    Power Attack and Statistics

I think the difference arises here: I think that the correct formula for AT is: AT = T-2.5*(N-1) (Consider the trivial case of N=1), and for monks that's: AT = T-1.5*(N-1) The additional 2.5 gives you the 47 you want, instead of 42.

Help! How do I do a ball scene?

Some great advice so far. In my experience, a ball can be a incredibly fun. It can also be rather challenging for the DM. Players have a tendancy to split up if they think they're safe and you give them enough options: e.g. one goes to dance with the Count, one to pick pockets, one to...

what do you want in a mass combat system?

Same for me: the old War Machine rules are the right level of abstraction. (Though the actual mechanics of WM are fairly heinous IMHO.) I don't need a detailed tactical battle. WM does allow my players to fight off invading armies, or invade their neighbours on a fairly abstract level.

    Dungeon vs Polyhedron

I agree with the Colonel. Even at the new price, Dungeon/Poly represents the best value in gaming.

    Thanks to the ENnies judges

Now that voting is over, I just wanted to say a big 'thank you' to the hardworking Ennies judges. I picked up a lot of new material based on their nominations. Some of it I wouldn't normally have considered purchasing. In every case they proved to be well worth it. Personally, I didn't end...

    Mystara and Old Gazeteers

GAZ 13, The Shadow Elves, is available for free from here: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/SHDELF-DM.ZIP http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/SHDELF-player.ZIP This is a great gazetteer, second only to Principalities of Glantri IMHO.

    Harry Potter Campaign Setting

Re: Re: Harry Potter Campaign Setting Thanks James, you beat me to it! I too would heartily recommend the Great School of Magic as a setting... if you can find a copy. I DM a long-running campaign set at the school, although the PC has long since graduated and is now a professor. Easier to...
