    defensive fighting and special attacks

There are two different concepts here: a grapple attack (which is a multi-step process) and a grapple check (which is used during that multi-step process). A multi-step grapple attack is somewhat similar to a two-step weapon attack. In a two-step weapon attack, you make an attack roll first and...

Jumping over another character, rules please?

That depends on what you consider "normal movement." The SRD says it's a DC 15 check to "Tumble at one-half speed as part of normal movement, provoking no attacks of opportunity while doing so. Failure means you provoke attacks of opportunity normally." So ya gotta ask your DM what he...

    Bull Rush... Effective?

Here's an interesting Bull Rush question: I Bull Rush a wizard over a cliff. That means I'm standing at the top of the cliff and the wizard is in the sqaure in front of me, about to fall to his doom. As he leaves the square in front of me, do I get an AoO on him?

    defensive fighting and special attacks

In that same Main 3.5e FAQ, there is an entry about grappling while prone. In that answer, Bob gets a -4 penalty on grapple checks from being prone. Now being prone imposes a -4 penalty on melee attacks, but not on ability checks or skill checks. So since Bob gets that -4 penalty, that must...

    Bull Rush... Effective?

This is not generally true. If you have the Shock Trooper tactical feat (Complete Warrior), you can use its Domino Rush ability. But if you don't have that feat, using Bull Rush to push someone into an illegal square simply moves that creature into the nearest legal square.

    Bull Rush... Effective?

My 13th-level fighter mutt has Improved Bull Rush because it's a pre-requisite for Shock Trooper. He's rarely used it, relying instead on inflicting damage and grappling. But there was one memorable incident involving archers on a ledge. Much fun.

    Defeat The Vile 5' Step

You can Sunder as an AoO (Main 3.5e FAQ, page 30.) If you don't want to sunder the bow (because the archer most likely has a really good attack bonus and a big enhancement bonus on his bow so it will be hard to sunder), sunder the quiver. So a leather quiver has AC 10 + 0 + Dex, hardness 2...

    Wanting to provoke an AoO

This is yet another excellent use of the Feather Fall spell.

    Wanting to provoke an AoO

I've used this tactic to some success. Before he got the Improved Grapple feat, my character would run up to an opponent, move past the opponent (provoking an AoO), then grapple. If the opponent fell for the bait and took that first AoO, my character could grapple without worrying too much about...

    Fuzzy wizards

So you give all eight bombs to a critter that you've summoned with Summon Nature's Ally. You send him in on a suicide mission then... Boom! Kamikaze squirrel! But this tactic takes way too long and is too prone to disruption or misdirection to be a practical use for such a high level spell.

    Quick Draw usefulness?

Man, my 13th level guy has been wishing for Quickdraw lately. Spirited Charge/Shock Trooper/Heedless with a lance at +25 for 3d8+102 in round one, then damage drops considerably in round two as he drops his lance and spends a move action getting out his Spikes-enhanced Greatclub before a single...

    When the Charm Person ends...

Saeviomagy has it right. Without Spellcraft, the ex-charmee might never figure it out. Even with Spellcraft, the ex-charmee might justify it to himself, like, "Well, sure he cast a Charm spell on me, but I liked him anyway." There once was a girl I was quite enamored with. Now she's long gone...

    defensive fighting and special attacks

Trip: the attack penalty applies to your initial unarmed melee touch attack, but has no effect on your Strength check opposed by the defender’s Dexterity or Strength check. Disarm: the attack penalty applies. If the defender is fighting defensively, he's easier to disarm. Aid Another: the...

    AoO when disengaging from grapple

The grapple rules are silent on the matter, but the movement/AoO rules say, "Moving out of a threatened square usually provokes an attack of opportunity from the threatening opponent. There are two common methods of avoiding such an attack—the 5-foot-step and the withdraw action (see below)."...

    Suggest some twin feats.

Boo! Skill Focus (Intimidate). No, really. Or maybe Persuasive (+2 Bluff and Intimidate). Or both. If both of you are armed (maybe with reach weapons) and you both threaten a single opponent, you can both use your Intimidate skill to Demoralize Opponent on the same dude. Since you're Sorc/Bbn...

Grapples, Prayer Spells and Iterative Attacks

Depending on how strict your DM is, Haste may not help you make an extra grapple attack, unarmed strike, attack with natural weapons or armor spike attack because the exact wording of the Haste spell says, "When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with any...

    Grappling Damge

According to the PH, armor spikes inflict extra piercing damage. This can increase your grapple damage quite a bit as you get to add your Str bonus twice (once for inflicting nonlethal unarmed strike damage, once for inflicting lethal piercing damage). For a human fighter, this is 1d3+Str...

    Paladin 2 / Sorcerer 1 Needs a Prestige Class!

Paladin is pretty much a prestige class. Just stick with Pal all the way. Use your Sorc level(s) for True Strike (mixes well with Power Attack) and other spells with no somatic components so you can avoid that pesky arcane spell failure. Here's a list of sorc/wiz spells with no somatic...

Input wanted on my Bard-barian (Core only)

If your DM says SRD, that may include psionics, so your bard-barian might want to take some cross-class ranks in Autohypnosis for some pretty cool tough-guy-can-shrug-off-anything abilities (Ignore caltrop wound, Resist dying, Resist fear, Tolerate poison, Willpower and that non-tough-guy...

Quicken, Sorcerors, and Automatic Quicken Spell (Epic)

I know a paladin who took Quicken, which he obviously couldn't use because of the spell level bump. When he made 12th level, he took Divine Metamagic. Then the Quickened buffing began, and the cheese was very good.
