I'd do this; mechanically, I'd probably base them off of bennies from Savage Worlds. In fact, since I've already house-ruled Action Points to be an encounter power each PC gets, I just might do that.

I think Savage Worlds would be great for Firefly. Savage Worlds was built especially for Western games (Deadlands, to be specific), and the succinctest way I've found to describe Firefly is "Cowboys - IN SPACE!" - the SF stuff is mostly window dressing.

Well, it's the same table as is on the DM Kit's screen, and it's used there for improvised damage values. I'm therefore inclined to say that the damage table on p42 has been changed to match errata. I can't wait for the RC so I can verify this hypothesis.

Compare the damage tables on pages 42 and 184 of the original DMG. They're identical. It's not a stretch to think that if one changes, so too does the other. I'm still gonna check the DM kit's screen when I get to my FLGS today, but I expect it to match that errata.

That's not quite true; The Kalashtar section was great, and the warforged section was pretty good, in both cases regardless of if you owned the ECS. I agree, the other sections were terrible, but the Kalashtar section alone redeems it IMO.
