Breaking the stereotype of the chaste paladin

Roland and Veillantif are the inspiration for the D&D paladin's special mount, and Galahad healing the "Maimed King" Pellam is the inspiration for the remove disease ability (at least by my reckoning).

What do you think is the best campaign setting?

My favorite campaign setting other than my own is Greyhawk. However, I imagine you are already familiar with Greyhawk so I would recommend Blackmoor (I don't have the book, but it looks interesting based on the preview pdfs). I would recommend you steer clear of the hopelessly lame Forgotten Realms.

How Many of You Ignore New Cruch?

I use my own world, so the "crunch" is most useful to me, but I appreciate good "fluff" and can be inspired by it.

What exactly makes Math hard to some people?

Anyone who complains that "math is too hard" needs to be given copies of Walter Rudin's Principles of Mathematical Analysis and Gerald Folland's Real Analysis : Modern Techniques and Their Applications.

Breaking the stereotype of the chaste paladin

No. Enforced celibacy in the West predates the Catholic-Orthodox split. Besides which, it is my understanding that Orthodox bishops must be celibate (I don't know when that was first implemented, though).

Breaking the stereotype of the chaste paladin

Galahad and the idea of the chaste knight far predate Puritanism.

Breaking the stereotype of the chaste paladin

That's fine, but you are hardly free of pedantry yourself.

Need some ideas or advice on the roleplay direction of my cleric

Actually, the elves of the "Undying Court" are "deathless," which is the positive energy equivalent to undeath. Since they are fueled by positive energy, they are supposed to be good aligned. Essentially, they are good aligned liches.

Breaking the stereotype of the chaste paladin

Using celibacy to denote abstention from marriage is not archaic, sorry. Clearly, you are not familiar with the concept of secondary, tertiary, etc. definitions. Chaste can and does mean sexual abstinence. However, your above usage is also appropriate. I did not say they are interchangeable.

Breaking the stereotype of the chaste paladin

No, I think you meant chaste when you wrote it. To be chaste is to refrain from sexual intercourse. To be celibate is to remain unmarried, but it can also refer to abstention from sex.

Why did the Scarred Lands fail?

It failed because it was lame, just like the show it spun off from. :)

Why did the Scarred Lands fail?

They had all the core races and classes except gnomes, which was a huge plus for me. Until Termana, that is, when they were shoehorned in (with Nightfall's help, as I recall).

    What D&D character are you?

Well, you could always be a savage bard from UA.

What do your Orcs look like?

I admire whomever does the artwork for Kalamar books. Would that be you?

    What D&D character are you?

Lawful Good Elf Paladin (albeit a prideful, lusty one--I envision several quests of atonement and regular self-flagellation)
  17. Brennin Magalus

    What D&D character are you?

Yes, but if you added PrCs into the mix you'd be a CN Elf Bard/Ranger/Foehunter (LSU Tigers).

    "Prestige" paladins and rangers

One thing I like about the prestige versions of the paladin and ranger is that they get 0-level spells, which their base counterparts do not (to my chagrin). I can't say the same for the bard PrC, though, because it allows bards to have access to spells that I don't think they should have...

    Sorcerer vs. Warmage

To answer the second part of your question, Monte's sorcerer gets d6 for HP, 4 skill points instead of 2, uses XP instead of material components, has a few charisma based skills added to his list, and knows one extra spell per level. The trade off is that some of his spells, like haste (3.0) are...
