D20 Dark Matter at the WotC site

Sounds like much of the setting material will remain unchanged. I like the Shades of Grey material being added, since I don't have that copy of Dungeon. Exit 23 is a good opening adventure, even though I've ran it twice in two different systems. I'm looking forward to it.

    OMG! Wizards website updates!

Ok...how about showing all of the ToC rather than just the stuff you want to complain about? >> d20 Dark•Matter Table of Contents Introduction The Introduction tells you what you need to play d20 DARK•MATTER and lists the ten things players and GMs need to know about the setting. Chapter 1...

    D&D CHess set...getting it?

Amen. I have a Star Wars chess set (plastic pieces, but still looks nice) that cost only $10. That's good enough for me for no more than I play chess.

Telling a Story vs. Having Fun

I voted fun so fast it made my own head spin! When I game, it's to have fun. Period. A story is *created* in the midst of having fun. I never go in looking to tell my players a story, after all I'm not their nanny trying to put them to sleep. ;) We create the story together, but that's...

Has D&D become less about the adventure?

We tend to roll first and then let the dice decide our words, but we like the randomness that causes. :D The point being we still roleplay out whatever situations arise, the dice merely facilitate the roleplaying. They are not the focus of the game.

Has D&D become less about the adventure?

Everyone should be having fun. It's a game after all. If you're not going to have fun running the type of game that your players would prefer, then it would be time to find a new group whose interests are more in line with your own.

Help me with my research paper: Survey #1

RPG's, Video games, and board games The social outcast instantly pops into mind. Those that have a hard time relating to people that aren't interested in games, fantasy, comics, or sci-fi. Nerds and geeks also some to mind as well. The lonely, fat guy that reeks of cat-piss with greasy hair...

    RPG-ish Boardgames

I recommend it. It helps to balance the game out a bit with some new takes on the rules, plus new monster minis are always good to have.

Any good party based single player RPG's out there?

I've been loving X-Men Legends II. It's not turn-based though.

Has D&D become less about the adventure?

That's one thing that I feel needs to be brought up: the difference in experience and the warping of memories. I remember the campaigns I played in back when I first started with Basic D&D many years ago very fondly with dungeons filled with deranged halflings and the 10 foot rooms filled with...

Has D&D become less about the adventure?

That's the way I always looked at it. It's my game, so I can make it what I want.

    RPG-ish Boardgames

RPG-ish boardgames are my favorite type of game these days when I'm not prepared to play D&D, D20 Modern, or M&M 2. My favorites include: Descent: Great game. However, it doesn't come with any campaign rules; it's meant to be played as an Overlord vs. the players kind of game. There's an...

    4th Edition D&D

4E? Well, I'd combine some skills (like the oft-mentioned Hide and Move Silently --> Sneak), turn Armor into DR, use a system for spell points, use racial classes in lieu of LA's, trim the fat in general. Oh wait. I'm doing all of that with 3.5 right now, so I guess I created my own 4E...

Do You Consider Miniatures Painting And/Or Collecting Part Of Your RPG Hobby?

I collect minis (both metal and pre-painted) and I paint as well. Don't have enough time to, but I still pick up interesting sculpts.

    Kansas City - DM Dinner

The 17th *may* be OK for me. We're getting really close to the wedding so impromtu trips to StL (where it's all going down) pop up unexpectedly. As of right now, I'm free that day.

D20 Dark Matter at the WotC site

I never got bent out of shape, so just chill. It was a joke. I actually happen to be one of the people that liked D20 Past. (Although it could have been better by far.)

    WotC updates the Product Catalog!

Not much there that interests me, with is fine since my gaming budget is shrinking. I'll definantly pic up Complete Mage if for nothing else that more Warlock invocations. I'll like pick up the Dungeon Tiles as well, and maybe the Castle Ravenloft adventure, but that one's doubtful.
