It wasn't very well done from the stuff that it did have in there. There were a lot of poorly written and ill-conceived rules that just weren't up to snuff. The lack of mutant animals was a knock against it in my book as well. Plus, the backstory wasn't very interesting either, IMO. It just...
Pair-a-dice has been around for at least 2-3 years. They are right across the street from Queen City. (The main store has been closing down for a while, but I think the gaming end was supposed to stay open on the strength of CCG's. Beyond that, Pair-A-Dice is a MUCH better shop.)
AFMBE, D&D 3.5, D20 Modern/Future/UA, WFRP2e, M&M 2e, Exalted 2E, and IK got my vote, but I'd also play Star Wars D20, Hero 5e (Champions setting), Iron Heroes, and Rifts if my arm was sufficiently twisted.
And I said if that works for your group, then great. Good for you guys. If you all are having fun then mission accomplished.
I'm just stating that *I* would find that fun. As to environmental effects being in the rules, well, I don't use all of the rules in the CR. Some things just bog down...
I'm all for a little realism in a game, but that would suck the fun right out gaming if I had to micro-manage every bit of provisions and various other gear just to go whack an orc. If that works for your group, great. For me, I wouldn't have likely returned for another session...
I like a ruleset that is easy to use and run for beginners, but still has enough complexity to keep the "old guard" coming back for more. Internal consistency is a must. Add-ons should fit in seamlessly with the core rules in an intuitive manner.
You'd be surprised. There are quite a few gamers in that area. Warrensburg isn't too far away and there's a healthy gamer pool at CMSU. I doubt it would rival KC, but it could have a nice turn-out. If I still lived in either Marshall or Warrensburg, I'd be there.
??? I must have missed that one. the only thing close that I recall was that old Dragon Strike boardgame.
EDIT: Nevermind. I know the product you're talking about. I finally tracked down copies from a company that would ship to the US. That's OK, but it doesn't use D&D rules, just the...
Heh. I've been using my Warhammer Quest tiles to run random D&D dungeons for a long time now. (Although I've been simplifying the rules a lot to make it easiser to run a DM-less dungeon, Dungeon Bash has helped that issue out quite a bit.) It's fun to use when you can't find a game and have a...
From what I've read on various forums, the translation to English leaves a bit to be desired. I'm interested and will definantly give it a look over once my FLGS gets it in. The so-so reaction to the translation and the rules gives me pause though.
