    Moments of emotion

I agree totally. I've tried playing with immersive groups, but didn't like it much. I had fun just playing, but the total immersion angle didn't sit well with me.

    Moments of emotion

 I like how some people think that since they play a certain way that it doesn't make sense for others to play a different way. I've never been much of an immersion player. I RP, but I don't take it very seriously because that's not how I have fun. I enjoy the D&D mechanics and...

    Moments of emotion

As long as the story is interesting, which I guess could be a type of emotional involvement, and the challenges are interesting then I'm having fun. If my character dies in the midst of an entertaining adventure, so be it. I had fun, but I'm not going to be distraught over the loss in the...

    Moments of emotion

Same here, except for the farting. I prefer my games to be games. Fill them with action, adventure, and suspense, but don't ever expect me to become truly emotionally connected to my character. Plus, any romantic situations that comes my character(s) way will be rp'ed completely tongue firmly...

Want to recommend a book, or a series of books?

There's a loose series of books by Sean Stewart dealing with the world after magic suddenly reappears. So far, all I've read are Nightwatch and Galveston and both were excellent. Nice mix of Post-Apocalyptic, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy. Kane

    woohoo, go white sox!

I'm all for despising those players for the blatant cheating (except for Joe Jackson and the couple of other guys that didn't throw the series) even today. However, not liking the current team nearly a century after that happened? C'mon. I often wonder if jerks like Barry Bonds ever wonder...

    woohoo, go white sox!

I have to wonder if the Black Sox is a part of that hatred of the Chi Sox? Many baseball fans are steeped in the history of the game and carry grudges against teams and player they never even got to see play as well a love and admire players the played long before many fans were born. That's...

D&D at The Barn (pics inside)

Excellent setup! A barn or decent sized storage building is definantly on the lookout list for the next house.

    Boardgames more popular than videogames?

I've gotten on a boardgame kick lately. Most of my money has been going to Fantasy Flight Games. Arkham Horror and Doom being two great games, and they have Descent: Journeys in the Dark, a Doom expansion, and World of Warcraft coming out this year...maybe. (FFG is really bad about comeing...

    woohoo, go white sox!

If anything, the time off with help the Sox. Their pitchers are well-rested and ready to go up against a bleary, wore-out, Angels. Tonight's game will be the third game in as many days in a different time zone. That is going to wear them out. Kane

Best D20/OGL Setting I SHOULD Own

I voted for Iron Kingdoms, Warcraft, Talislanta, and Oathbound. All three are well-done settings with enough variant crunch to make it feel from a mechanics stand-point that you're not just playing regular D&D with a different world. IK is extremely well-done in the fluff department. Lots...

    woohoo, go white sox!

I like the Chisox chances if they can keep their level of play up through the next series. Any of the NL teams are going to be tough, however. Kane

Nyrfherdr's Mini Thread - Inspired by Pogre (NEW 3/1/07 - AFTER A YEAR!)

Those look great, Nyrf! I have a couple of those figs and I like the differences you made between them and the examples put forth by Privateer Press.

    We bought a house!

Congrats! Welcome to the wonderful double-edged sword of home ownership. Seriously, there's no better feeling than owning your own home, but the upkeep and such (as I'm going through now) can be a major pain. Just keep thinking "Equity"!!!
