Huge collection of House Rules from our group.

Agreed. Adopted! (Although I believe you meant to type "the character must have the corresponding skill for the ritual's category." ;)) EDIT: (Apologies for the edit, I'm on the drink tonight. But don't let that discredit the following idea! :P) Can't this be handled by imbuing the weapon...

    Studying (Intelligence Skill Training)

In my game the scenario is that a character has a few bibles. I'll probably have the first book be a living book which engages in a dialogue with her, the second will be magically imbued so that she reads it faster than any book she ever has read before, and the third will be regular, likely...

    Studying (Intelligence Skill Training)

It took some convincing from you guys, but now I'm seeing the lack of need for (and overall burden of) the time aspect of the system. The bookeeping and time requirement can be easily avoid by just highlighting the need to study, and roleplaying it proactively with something like LS suggested...

    Studying (Intelligence Skill Training)

Don't get me wrong, I love and prefer 4e, but... maybe I'm also just a little old school... :p

    Studying (Intelligence Skill Training)

Wow, man! That is a killer idea! I'm definitely going to use this in the system. Bravo, sir!

    Studying (Intelligence Skill Training)

True, but I feel its a bit cheap to just dump skill training on a character. It might have a place in a more fast-paced campaign, but ours is more long-term, progress oriented. Maybe some magic books could pop up wih this system. They'd only take one extended rest to read, and then vanish...

    Studying (Intelligence Skill Training)

Perhaps I need some sort of easy formula to go by to find a reasonable required study time. Perhaps the following: (8*(16-int mod-1/2 char's level) = number of hours needed. This factors in the character's intelligence, which would definetly factor in to how quickly you could read and absorb the...

    Tough Minion variation

Two hit minions, eh? I understand the important mechanics are laid out quite nicely here (and thank you) but was there another thread for this that you could link in?

    Studying (Intelligence Skill Training)

Seeing as how feats in 4e aren't nearly as powerful as they were in 3.X, I am dabbling in some ways of granting feats. The particular feat I'm considering is Skill Training, limited to Intelligence skills. Rather than just giving out the feat at a certain time, such as at a certain level, I'd...

    All about sailing!

After reading the responses I've been convinced that perhaps a whole new skill is a bit unnecessary. I didn't think it was too harsh , but in retrospects it does seem the consequences outway the gains, and I'll likely be scrapping it all and trade it for skill challenges. I particularly liked...

    All about sailing!

The PC's in the campaign I'm DMing recently boarded a ship, which was my inspiration for all of this. I've left things open-ended for DM's to suit to their own tastes (ease of play, realism, etc.) I'd love some feedback. Sailing New Skill: Sailing Ability: highest modifier (armor check...
