    Repositioning the "Wizards Presents:" books

When you watch a movie at the cinema, you are essentially paying to see a two hour long advertisement for the films DVD release, as that's market in which studios earn most of their profits. And the theater itself? Their revenue comes from concessions, not tickets. Thing is, just because...

    D&D 4E Merric's thoughts on 4e

You lost me at the part where 4th Ed. being different from what's come before it somehow invalidates any merit it has as it's own game. It's apparent you're not a game agnostic to begin with.

    Repositioning the "Wizards Presents:" books

D&D rulebooks are a clever marketing ploy designed to interest you in purchasing other D&D rulebooks. YOU. FREAKING. SHEEP. HOW DOES THE MAN'S GRASS TASTE NOW?

    D&D 4E What's Wrong With 4e Simply Put

You say it as though gnomes were always a core race. Or that vanican spellcasting was actively liked, rather than tolerated and accepted. Or that they're actually getting rid of vanican spellcasting. Have the desigers actually declared something you love (and not in the, "Oh Dungeons &...

D&D 4E 4e, minis... and some of my thoughts

Strict adherence to the rules isn't a particularily defensible position. Portraying combat verbally has been a valid and common method since roleplaying games' inception. To Simia, I don't believe Shortman's references to idiot-savants is particularily offensive or inappropriate. For many...

    A mystery race ?

The Fiend Folio. Personally, I still hold a deal of emnity towards the Shadar-Kai after a DM of mine used them as the primary antagonists in an ill-concieved "good vs. neutral" campaign

War characters give me a headache

Dungeons & Dragons has an overabundence of 'w' words in general. This is exceedingly stupid, as 'w' is inarguably the stupidest letter in the history of ever.

Wizards Presents: Inside the making of 4th edition, plus new art

Wizards can't seem to name anything right in 4th Ed. My Suggestion -- Wizard's Presents: Riposting Aryans

    Repositioning the "Wizards Presents:" books

I would just like to point out that you indeed are paying extra for the bonus material. It's obviously different from purchasing the it wholly seperately, but still similar. The "paying for previews" argument is a valid one, though hardly perfect. The most obvious counterpoint is that the...

D&D 4E 4e, minis... and some of my thoughts

Until someone figures out an exceptional way of tracking combat non-visually, I'll be representing battles using homemade tokens constructed lovingly using fantasy art provided by the internet, printer and paper, scissors and paste, and veritable boatload of foamcore. Perhaps some black...

    A mystery race ?

The elves of Aerenal worship the dead, so the members of Vol fit perfectly into their society. However, the elves of Aerenal and dragons of Argonessen loath one another and have been at war almost constantly. Erandis d'Vol was born of an elven mother and a green dragon father in an attempt to...

    Warlord or Rubber Ducky?

I chose the R Lee Emery, since I recall an earlier playtest article where the warlord threatened to crush a hobgoblin's :):):):):):):) and :):):):):) :):) :):):):) and then use his severed limb to :):):):):):):):):):):):) :):):). And who could forget Mike Mearls infamous post about the new...

So which Desert of Desolation Monster isn't in the Monster Manual I?

I recall them stating in an old Design & Development how the Shadar-Kai were the monster from the Fiend Folio they wanted to gain traction. I believe then that they will be in the Monster Manual, but if they're not, it's not for lack of designer support. If the horde of zombie variants is any...

    So...this is the new Ettercap?:(

The Heavy Pick is Bahamut's favored weapon. I'm not entirely certain why, but I think it's because it resembles a dragon's tooth.

    So...this is the new Ettercap?:(

The miniatures predictably benefit from the clarity of these non-magazine scan pictures. If Desert of Desolation is weaker than recent sets, I'd say it's only slightly so. My Favorite miniature is definately the Human Cleric of Bahamut. EDIT: Looking back though, it doesn't compare to War...

    D&D 4E The Great d20 Books that shaped 4E

Besides from obvious answers like the Book of Nine Swords, and even more obvious answers like the 3.0 Core Rulebooks, I'd say Unearthed Arcana contains the most ideas that would be examined when making a new edition of D&D.

    D&D 4E Merric's thoughts on 4e

So I'm not the only one. I've liked most of what I've seen about 4th Ed. proper, aside from some eyebrow-raising names, but the related software - like all software - needs some kinks ironed out of it. My only other concern is that, while Wayne Reynold's, Steve Prescott's, and William...
