LA charachters for Lvl 1 game

I'd just go with leaving them frozen in level until their XP allows them to catch up to their LA. It's not as if your campaign will stay forever, or even very long, at first level, since, frankly, 1st level characters suck and are utterly worthless, not to mention way too easily to accidentally...

Invisible Things can't Flank: What's the big dealio?

Well, think about it: If you were fighting an ogre, and some insignificant rodent were behind you, would you even pay attention to it? No! You're battling with an OGRE. The rat is something you'd likely accidentally step on in the process. It's quite easy to ignore something when the threat...

    New Multi-classing variant

This sounds like a bizarre, mutated version of 1E/2E dualclassing. What would it MEAN to be a 5th level rogue, 2nd level fighter? You're a 5th level rogue with the BAB of a 3/2, and two fighter bonus feats, as well as more skillpoints? This sounds like an open opportunity to cherrypick every...

    Skill Focusing

A better, more interesting "Skill Focus" would be skill focus that enables the character to dump as many points as he has into the skill, without any of that nonsense about a maximum per level. I remember in pre-3E, a Thief could choose to master one aspect of his profession, becoming good at...

Invisible Things can't Flank: What's the big dealio?

Maybe he's not attacking. Maybe he's just waving his arms in a noisy, whoosy manner and shouting "OOGA BOOGA!" in a very distracting way.

    D&D 3.x Blinded condition in 3.5

It'd be interesting if being blinded would allow you to fly. Since you have a 50% miss chance when you can't see the target, if you bullrush the ground, and miss, aren't you now flying, since flying is accomplished by throwing oneself at the ground and missing?

Is there any way around Uncanny Dodge?

The only way around the no-loss-of-dexterity thing is to call for an airstrike. No matter how uncanny his dodging his, there's no way in hell he's going to avoid an airstrike. You can still get flanking SA if you have 4 levels above the victim in uncanny-dodge granting classes, however.

Need help to build a proper druid.

Egad. And they were trying to make 3E less complicated and consistent than previous editions, too. I swear, if you tried to nitpick something like this in a previous edition, you would be pelted with dice. Gah!

    A Fighters skill points....

Without requoting the entirety of your commentation, I'd like to point out that you've now demanded far more from the rogue than he reasonably has skillpoints. Your hypothetical party rogue has the following skills: Gather Information Hide Move Silently Appraise Escape Artist Spot Search...

    Building an Eldritch Knight

*does a spittake* Wasn't Spellsword the horribly maligned class which can be outdone by a combination of Fighter and Wizard? I recall Frank did an exact breakdown on it which basically blew it out of the sky. That is why you don't design anything other than a stereotypical one-stat character...

How long can a bard Inspire Courage

Oh, I have a better bottles-of-beer-on-the-wall thing. I programmed a computer to sing this song. As it wound down towards 0 bottles, people prayed that it would finally be over..... Nuh, uh. Being the computer it was, it continued... -1 bottles of beer on the wall, -1 bottles of beer....

D&D 3.x What Types of Damage Reduction Are There in 3.5?

That's a lot of money for what amounts to a substandard, badly made weapon. Hell, I have cold iron frying pans and crowbars. I could just beat him to death with a pan and a crowbar.

How do you handle Mordenkainen's Disjunction?

If you're attempting to destroy the Gadget of Ultimate Evil, I don't think that anyone who's opinion you'd actually care about would bother you. That Solar isn't going to mind that you've decided to sack the Gadget of Ultimate Evil, he's on your side. Some demon, on the other hand, might get...

Invisible Things can't Flank: What's the big dealio?

This is pretty silly, yes, since it implies that a character could simply willfully ignore one or more of the flanking parties, suffering the "blind" penalty against that creature, but negating the flanking effect. Actually, the ability to do this would bring us to clean, unified system of...

    How were flails carried?

And how many flail users do you see? I hardly think promoting the use of a flail to more realistic levels is a bad thing. The shield style isn't uncommon at all. Anyone packing a one-handed weapon that has the shield proficiency tends to take up a shield as well. Plus, I've also played with...

    Arrivederci, Galileo!

Damn straight. It's not like anything higher than monocellular life is going to ever evolve there before we colonize it ourselves, bringing our microbes there anyway. NASA's high point was during the Cold War, when we hid our flag on the Moon so the Russkies couldn't capture it. That was...

    How were flails carried?

I've always operated under the rule that flails ignore the base shield, and only the magical bonus, if any, on the shield, counts. If anyone ever objected, I'd happily give them a shield and then demonstrate the effectiveness of a flail against shields on them.

    Banned Books Week

Wow, page 3. I was certain we'd at LEAST get to page *4* before Hitler/Nazis entered the picture, but I guess not.

    A Fighters skill points....

Picking "fighter" as your main class is basically the same as shooting yourself in the foot, if you care to have skills in things other than swinging weapons around. By itself, the fact that you get 2 SPs/lvl, base, isn't nearly as injurious as the fact that your skill choices, by core rules...

"Half damage from slashing attacks"--what is halved?

All of it gets halved, by the rules: All damage done of that sort is considered to be "slashing" damage. It's generally not worth the effort to seperate out exactly how much of that damage is "slashing damage" inflicted because the object is bladed, and how much of it is just blunt-force trauma...
