    Rune Domain Woes

Well, obviously, the object needs to have enough space for you to etch all of these runes onto. Once you have inscribed all these runes onto an item, you've produced....THE HOLY HAND GRENADE OF ANTIOCH!

    Combat Expertise Weirdness

Combat Expertise allows a character to take up to a -5 on attack rolls and tack it on to his AC as a dodge bonus when taking a melee attack or full attack. This bonus appears to apply to all attacks directed against a character, both by the opponent he may be attacking, anyone else attacking...

How do you handle Mordenkainen's Disjunction?

Here's interesting Disjunction question: Characters are allowed to voluntarily fail saving throws. Can casters cast a spell in a manner such that everyone who does NOT voluntarily fail their saving throw automatically passes? The interesting thing about Disjunction is, if you're using it, that...

How do you protect your sleeping character?

Try sleeping in trees. Sleeping in trees makes it very difficult for other people to find you, let alone attack you, and even if they did, they'd probably cause you to fall out of the tree, which would wake you up. As a side note, sleeping in trees is a very good RL technique as well.

Arcane Spell Failure - Is It Silly?

A slow-moving, heavily-plated, and overloaded "tankmage" is hardly on the list of most-threatening things to see. Heavy armor is already very heavily penalized, to the point where, ironically, you can go *FASTER* carrying your plate armor in a sack than you can while wearing it....which makes...

Up close and personal with polearms

Yes, well, a "hit" very rapidly translates into impalement when you insist on walking straight into something that has just stuck you. If you walk towards me, and I jab you with a sharp, pointy stick, it becomes very advisable to alter course lest a merely painful jab becomes a very lethal and...

wall of stone, was: Will I survive?

Those rules are for launching fireballs through ENEMY arrow slits. If you had to do this to launch a fireball through your OWN arrow slits, that would make the very concept of arrow slits useless. The entire concept of the arrow slit is that it reduces the target profile of person on the other...

    Real World Giant (Space) Hamster?

Yeah, somebody do a writeup for the Miniature Giant template.

Up close and personal with polearms

I'd allow it without the use of a feat, but changing the grip on the weapon would require at least a free action, which means it can't be done in a reactive manner: You have to wait until your turn. Of course, it's also kind of funny that a person can advance into the reach of a pikeman, take...

    Protection from getting stoned

If you're protected from getting stoned, doesn't that undermine the entire point of doing drugs, which is to get stoned?

    what rules do you favor?

Neat trick. Although I personally, wouldn't have picked the combination of the Negative Energy Plane and Lord Soth as an example. Isn't he undead, so doesn't negative energy heal him?

general blueprint needed: a disarming mage

Use the Force, Luke. Seriously, it's not as hard as it sounds to guess which square something is in, especially since v3.5 Darkness isn't full darkness anymore.

How do you handle Mordenkainen's Disjunction?

You know, in ages past, Mord's Disjunction was never this bad, and it more or less did the same thing. What this is saying is that, quite plainly, 3E has become overly dependent on items: A high-level character is nearly useless unless he's kitted out like a Diablo II character, who's similarly...

Arcane Spell Failure - Is It Silly?

And there's already the obvious drawback that wizards don't come with the ability to use armor anyway, and would have to burn up to 3 feats just to do so. The obvious failing, of course, is the fact that, for some reason, 3E penalizes a character more for WEARING the armor than for CARRYING IT...

    What are your "Problem Spells"?

Unless the party is EVIL. Evil people are gloriously unaffected by Blasphemy. It's good to be bad.

What stats do YOU have? What's your Alignment, Race and Class?

That's because the post immediately preceding yours is the one that was probably written while you were taking the test and writing your post. I can remember the ones that came early on, though.

    Remove Paralysis versus Blasphemy...

Blasphemy is mean. I'm glad I'm evil.

how long do you let combat go? why?

Hell, you don't even need to be knocked out to do some honest gasping and wheezing after a fight. Having been in fights before, I can tell you that I wouldn't mind a breather after any fight, even one that ended without injury. The sheer tumult of being in a FIGHT is enough to make one wish a...

    Piratey Adventure Ideas

If you want to have a piratey adventure, it's not so important what the adventure is about at ALL. What you need to do is to make it so that everyone, the players and the DM, must talk like pirates throughout the entire adventure. If the adventure is piratical at all, that's even better, but the...

Where do I find that "Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!" ifgs movie?

Personally, I thought he needed a better lightning bolt, seeing as he threw 3 or 4 of them, and was more or less completely ignored by the other participants. The way I see it, if I jab someone in the back with a taser, he's going DOWN. None of that throwing multiple lightning bolts and being...
