    Need an interesting barbarian idea

Go with one of the barbarian cultures presented in the Eberron book. Many of them are very different from your cliche barabrian. The dragon-worshipping barbarians get access to some interesting feats. Maybe the reason he came to Khorvaire has something to do with the prophecy? Or maybe he's...

What is the minimum level would you play if you were never to gain xp again?

Let's say my character has a religious conversion. I could change the way I play the character, I could even change his alignment. But I can't gain a level of cleric, or an exalted feat, or even a measly rank in knowledge (religion)? Screw that. Character evolution is, IMO, a key aspect of a...

Does one attack roll = one attack?

Oops, I misread round as mintute (I would blame it on earlier editions - but, dammit, I'm too young to be this old). My counter question is, how the hell do you get 15 attacks per round? A core fighter at 16th level can fire 5 arrows in 6 seconds, which is pretty insane, but everything at that...

What is the minimum level would you play if you were never to gain xp again?

I voted 'are you crazy?'. Not because I like the acquisition of power, but because I like my characters to change. And 3E allows for a lot of change as a character advances. My characters never end up exactly the way I envisioned them when I started.

Does one attack roll = one attack?

Would you believe English longbowmen during the 14th and 15th century? When the king bans other sports so you have more time to practice archery, you get very good at it.

Halloween: Love it or hate it?

Maybe it's because I'm an ex-pat American, but I don't get Guy Fawkes. Especially in this day and age, should we really be commemorating an act of religious terrorism? Not that I'm saying it should be replaced with Halloween. What ever happened to plain old harvest festivals?

Would it be mean for me to have Potions of Inflict Serious Wounds as treasure?

This reminds me of something I pulled on my players in a Planescape game. Lost and wounded in Pandemonium, they come upon a village of dour gnomes. The gnome leader offers to heal them before they go into the nearby evil temple (in search of a portal outta there). Unfortunately for the PCs, the...

    Kits vs Prestige Classes

I voted prestige classes. However, I think the real successor to kits is substition levels. Much more elegant than kits or PrCs, IMO.

What is best in life... or in gaming?

Where's the love for cowboys?! I could never convince anyone to play a Werewolf: The Wild West campaign. It might have had something to do with my strict 'Swagger & Drawl' policy. I have long said "There is nothing so vulgar it can't be made more so by adding a dwarf." Whether it's pro...

Halloween: Love it or hate it?

I voted fence sitter. Halloween is yet another tool of the evil confectioner/florist/greeting-card triumverate conspiracy. Not to mention that the triumverate, with the Neo-Pagans and the Fundamentalists, have hijacked the holiday from the Irish Catholics. But on the other hand, 'horror' and...

How many temples in a community?

Remember, clerics of a specific god can still have three different alignments. So your main religion may have mutliple congregations. For example the largest temple in town might be dedicated to a LG god and balanced between law and goodness. However, in uptown you might have a congregation...

Why is it wrong to make alignment matter?

I don't don't agree that "goodness is its own reward", per se. I would argue that good has many advanatges over evil. Sure evil folks can lie, cheat, steal, and poison (and I would argue that good can do those in some cases, but that's another thread), but good has advantages as well. Good can...

Why is it wrong to make alignment matter?

Well, my take on it is that curing is better than inflicting, but rebuking is better than turning. This breaks down though, because not every evil cleric wants to or is able to walk around with an entourage of undead mooks. Alignment based traits are not necessairly bad, but they become...

    Druids are not Hippies!

That's true. But the Druid class in D&D is based on the neo-druids of the Romantic period (an organization that, BTW, still exists), not any historical philosophy (er, more historical). Exactly.

    Druids are not Hippies!

If the vocal ENWorld community is anything to go by, want people really want is a druid who isn't nature-loving, doesn't have an animal compnaion, doesn't summon animals, and doesn't turn into animals. What does that leave?

does hit point loss = damage

You do know D&D is fake right? The hp system is a decent simulation of cinematic combat, it's no good if you're looking for realistism. Personally, I prefer cinematic stuff to too much realsim (besides, real life is way too random). If you want a combat system where a hit is a hit, AC and hps...

    Chaotic Good Theocracies

I'm going to ignore the discussion of the America legal system, lest this thread get locked, and return to the orginal question: I think what you're looking for, Shades, is something like religion in rural India. Hinduism, as a polytheistic religion, absorbs deities from other religions and...
