I thought as much and since ENWorld as an entity wouldn't be bound to one at any rate, all it would have taken would be for another member of the ENWorld staff to post news and whatnot.
Besides, this all assumes that WotC wouldn't appreciate the free publicity anyway. I again reiterate that...
This.
I can't for the life of me believe that WotC seriously expects that information to remain private, so it seems pretty silly to even bother with the NDAs.
I would say it was a publicity stunt, except they don't seem to be taking that angle.
They've always struck me as an attempt to model reality (hello, grappling rules) in a game that doesn't try to model reality (hello, hit points).
In my Pathfinder game, we've ditched them as they are too cumbersome to be fun.
If you plan on using a laptop at the game table for Pathfinder, mosey over to Combat Manager and download CM - it's free (donationware) and you won't be disappointed.
I'd love to see some of those return as updates, but looking at the economics, I don't think it feasible.
After all, there's a reason why they aren't in print now. Or at least, actively supported.
It's clearly a substantial pillar of revenue, much as Paizo's own subscription service is. As you say, however, we don't know the verifiable numbers and thus our speculation is thus, although not completely blind.
Flawed premise - that one edition has to have more of a representation than other editions.
Especially given that without definition, "representation" is meaningless a term in this context.
Not without tinkering with 3.x, IMO.
I mean, that 3.x release would have to be 10 times more charming than that Arnold on Green Acres to sway Pathfinder players into playing 3.5 again.
All of the Pathfinder/4e talk aside, let's not forget that there is a sizeable number of 3.5 players who...
This, exactly this.
In an ideal case for WotC, D&DN when released is able to satisfy the separate groups - and this includes Pathfinder players.
Worst case, nothing really changes.
But then, what happens for WotC if they don't try.
Nothing.
Somewhat, in my experience. In my area, the people I know playing Pathfinder either moved straight from 3.5 or from 3.5 to 4e to Pathfinder.
I have no doubt that Pathfinder is able to get new players (as 3.x did and as 4e does), but I'm not seeing an overwhelming amount of new gamers (who are...
