    Fortune Cards Threads [Merged]

I'd hope there will be some deck building rules... otherwise stacks of nothing but what you need will be in there. I'd also hope that the DM would get to use them too...one for each bad guy otherwise the power curve just tipped farther to the players.

    Best Intro Adventure

I thought of Raiders too, I just couldn't remember the name of the town nor the link to the adventure. Yes, way better adventure than the one in the DMG.

    Fortune Cards Threads [Merged]

My concern is in public play options... not home games. In home games they are totally optional. In public play... probably optional for players, but DMs have no choice but to deal with them (and the adventure writers too). One of the arguments for the removal of the LFR reward cards was that...

    Fortune Cards Threads [Merged]

I think I understand why LFR dropped the campaign cards now... because WoTC is going to make it so that you can play with these cards in public play. Ugh. Probably the straw that will break LFR's back in my opinion (if it's not already broken). I was happy to see the rewards cards go... I'll...

    Best Intro Adventure

If you just want to try the game out, I too suggest Kobold Hall. If you want to play a real adventure with plot hooks, reasons for being there, etc, then check out Slaying Stone, an excellent adventure.

    Operation: Power Level Gary

Oh certainly we can do better than the lowly flumph. Nice idea Wik.

    A rant on retro clones...

Just a thought here, that people refer to the retro clones (I am probably guilty here too -- shout out to my fave Basic Fantasy), but it's the only familiar base they have to go on. I used to play basic D&D waaay back when, but found it difficult to talk to or play in anyone other game without...

    Is it time for 5E?

I am thinking that WoTC is done with versions, so we will never see 5.0 come out. A new D&D game will come out, but it will be something like "D&D - Fantastic Journeys" or something like that.

    Online PFRPG Character Generator

Save/Load coming anytime soon? This is nice for one time character generation, but for a campaign use it's terrible. Having to rebuild my character each time I want to change something isn't pleasant.

    Encounters: Session 16 black dragon

It's a dragon, it's supposed to scare the crap out of you. :) I dropped more than half the party into negatives more than once with it, but they eventually won. I don't have the stat block here at the office, but it was very similar to the Monster Vault one, level 2 solo lurker (elite?)

    DDI January Content Calendar "Online"

Feeling more and more pleased that I decided not to renew because I felt the magazines were circling the drain. This just reinforces that feeling.

    Best RPG buys of 2010?

Things I really liked this year: Slaying Stone - In my opinion, probably one of the best adventures WoTC ever published. D&D Essentials Rules Compendium - It's a great buy and with the index and soft cover, finding something is a snap. Fine example of taking lessons learned being applied in a...

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

The action piled on top of other peoples actions does slow 4E down. However, I timed our pathfinder game the other night, level 4 characters and there were 3 players, 4 characters. Entire combat took 45 minutes, and I had to sit and do nothing for a an average of 6 minutes between my turns to...

    And in 2011...

It went somewhere? I still play "old 4e" :)

    Pick Up Shoot Em Up

I have not seen the modern version, but I liked the western game "Sixgun" from Deep7. I think they have something that fits your need: Full Clip - Deep7 | RPGNow.com or all their product: RPGNow.com - Deep7 - The leading source for indie RPGs Buy it through the ENWorld store links though :)

GM's anyone ever have a Female?

I have played at a table with a female DM a few times... I really wish more would give it a try. I suspect perspectives on story that perhaps males might miss could come to the surface.

    WOTC Dungeon Encounters

Curious why this is posted in the Pathfinder section. You might also get more feedback if you included your location. I run a Encounters program at our FLGS with moderate success, we have 4-5 tables per week running since the program started, with mostly the same players.

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

I'll stop after this I promise :) I too grew up on much the same as you did. I love the d20 system as a step up from the mayhem of 1E/AD&D days when everyone had different houserules. But what drives me nuts, even today, is not the over all game system, but how things are written for it. In...

    And in 2011...

I think the cards are going to be very similar to the "twitter buffs" we see in D&D Encounters right now. Something temporary that affects the combat mildly (e.g. fog rolls in, everyone has partial cover)

    Online PFRPG Character Generator

Very cool Thanks for putting this up. I am playing around with it now and it looks pretty good so far. (Edit: Halflings do only go 20', I misremembered). One BIG feature I would want to see soon, the ability to save off and load back up a character so that I could level up in a campaign.
