I am too poor for an ipad, but yeah, that would be ideal. :)

    Define "grognard"

I envision "Grumpy Old Men (with Dice)" when I hear the term... I need to be careful, I am getting sufficient numbers of grey hairs to be mistaken for one!

    No Dice <Nerd Rage>

#1 I don't read the new dungeon and dragon magazines as much as I did the print ones, partly because the writing isn't the people I liked when Paizo had the helm, and partly because I can't read it on the potty, but it's integration into the tools that we have makes it very clearly something I...

Morrus attempts to update his PHB

I find a small three ring binder works remarkably well for keeping all the errata in one place. Then you can simply use a highlighter in the original book to remind you that there is errata in the errata binder. I am wondering what madness overcame you to want to do this? :)

    Can a Slowed Creature Shift?

So a slowed, prone, dazed flier is totally hosed. :D

D&D 4E Essentials isn't 4.5e, but is 4e as we know it over?

I agree with you, the core game rules aren't changing (I de-couple character powers from the rules... because they are really exceptions to those rules). The core rules fit in 32 or so pages... and I don't think those are changing (beyond being reprinted with the errata). When they change that...

    Vampire Sunlight Protection

Why not make it so that these are a different breed, one that doesn't have a vulnerability to sunlight, but rather a vulnerability to moonlight (or something similar). That is why they live underground, the moonlight corrupts their bodies and causes them to decay more rapidly than in the light...

    Can a Slowed Creature Shift?

That is exactly how I see it too. I was wondering what power lets you shift 6 squares, but there must be some. Usually I see references to shifting half your speed or your speed. I was saying my rogue character has some powers that let him move 1 plus his dex modifier (4), so he could shift 5...

Identity Loss (not the "roll for pick pockets" kind)

I am usually very careful to say things like "My character" or make references like "Chadeaux jumps across the lava pit". I don't really say "I just across the lava pit." The only time when I do refer to myself is when I have having the character say something, and then it's pretty clear that...

    First Dark Sun Excerpt!!!

This looks very similar to the Dark Sun Encounters blurb they sent with the packets and I have had on my Meetup site sign April 29th. [:(] Was hoping for something new.

    Can a Slowed Creature Shift?

Ahh right, per the errata I think you are right if it's a power that lets you shift. So I am changing my answer to Kevin's question, yes you can if it's a power. :)

    Can a Slowed Creature Shift?

Yes the creature can shift. Slowed = your maximum speed is 2. (this answer is right) If you had a power that says you can shift 6, you can only shift 2. (this answer is wrong) The only thing slowed does not affect is forced movement. (This answer is right)

If the Meetup site was sponsored, you can click on the sponsorship area and see the terms of that sponsorship. Don't like it, leave the meetup. WoTC isn't trying to sell you anything, they wanted to alert you to the fact that the meetup is offering this great gaming opportunity FREE, with...

D&D Roleplaying Game Starter Set (4th Edition)

Correct, the original "Starter" had no character creation rules. The red box also will have cardstock power cards, at least according to Amazon.com.

    Introducing the Younger Generation

My 4 year old wanted to join our Star Wars Saga game one night. He was R4-D4, a robot sidekick. He would say "beep boop, dee boop" and pretend to do things with the mini on the table like open a door for us. He was grinning from ear to ear just to pretend play with the grown ups. I need to do...

    July Errata is up

I run a meetup (so this is just my experience, but it's sizable): 90% of my meetup is in the age bracket of 21-40. So of the 45 people who show up at my meetup monthly, only 2 or 3 fall outside that range. The other 10% are comprised of older or younger than that... weighted on the older side...

    Questions about 4th Edition

Cash? You don't need cash. Use the trial version and see if that helps you to figure stuff out. But I will say that the CB is very much worth the price.

"Not 4.5" is coming soon. Thoughts?

So you could easily play 4E with that book and a DDI subscription? Sounds about right to me too... (oh, and the rules will include the errata).

Dungeons & Dragons, 4th Edition: Remastered Director's Cut

I honestly can't recall the last time I brought my PHB to a game table or had need to refer to anything within it. All I really **need** to play 4E is my character sheets, stat blocks for monsters, a set of dice, a story, some paper and some pencils. Beyond that it's all about what add ons I...
