Being more descriptive as a DM

Here is what I do sometimes when I am stuck... and it might sound corny but try it: Close your eyes... and try to imagine yourself in that scene. What do you see? What do you smell? What can you hear in the background? What does the person they are conversing with look like? What is a...

Tomb of Horrors, Demonomicron, and more @ Premiere FLGS

My FLGS is a premiere store and has Tomb of Horrors, Demonomicron, Vor Rukoth and Orcs of Stonefang Pass in stock. I'll swing by tomorrow and take a look and post what I can... perhaps there is someone else who already has these at their Premiere FLGS and can post more info? I have several...

Dungeons & Dragons, 4th Edition: Remastered Director's Cut

You used the word "need" quite a few times when talking about the options. I am not certain that I agree, in the same way that I don't "need" any of the 4E splat books (Arcane Power, Martial Power, etc). All that stuff is in the CB, and that is where I get that content from. Curious, is...

"Not 4.5" is coming soon. Thoughts?

You don't exactly have to pay to play WoW either. The big difference is that you can legally play D&D without a subscription, you can't legally play WoW without one. The day that D&D became a pay to play scenario is the day I stop playing it... but that day will never come so I don't worry...

Do you want updated core books?

I have the errata printed, double sided, sitting in front of me on my desk, yes it does look big, but it's not what I am referring to. What I think is happening here is what is being considered core RULES versus core POWERS that happen to be in the core books. The rules for 4E, to my...

Do you want updated core books?

Just looking at the complete errata document, all 115 pages (way shorter than the PHB by the way, and that is for ALL books), I find that there are about 5 pages that relate to the PHB core rules being affected (10 if you cound the DMG changes and the Skill challenge rules), fully half a page...

    Vote for your Forgotten Realms!

I have grown fond of the current setting and would vote to continue it. Too much upheaval would equate to nobody wanting to play the setting I suspect.

    D&D 4E 4E Miniatures

If you are not opposed to tokens, check out the collection from Firey Dragon (spelling and product name I can't quite recall... Klaus will no doubt jump in and correct me here)

Do you want updated core books?

I voted no, because they would be out of date after the next errata release. I feel that the best way is the way they are doing it, with compendium and character builder, plus the rules updates. Much of the errata is in the follow on books (look in the back of your PHB2 for example). The core...

    Lords of Madness previews!

Quiet you, or I'll hit you with my walker! ;) When they first came out, I want to say there were 8 per package (like Harbinger), then it want to 7, then 6 but that was the huge set. Oh I can't recall but I think that was the case.

Planning to do the Tomb of Horrors...

*secretly rolls some dice* You find yourself naked, outside the internet with none of your clothing or computing equipment. You can see a 300 baud modem on the floor before you.

www.play-board-games.com blogs about How DnD 4th Edition is like a board game

Not to fan flames, but really, everything stated could be said about any role playing game, including 3.5. You don't need cards to play 4E, but they make things way easier. In fact, I would use spell cards in 3.5 often. Nope, it's none of what is on the list that makes any edition of a...

I would think Rappan Athuk and Ptolus might qualify.

Planning to do the Tomb of Horrors...

People I have spoken to about Tomb of Horrors generally have one of two reactions: Walk away or get excited about it. The latter never played it before. I am going to run it at a public venue with a bunch of folks who are excited to play it, not my regular gaming group.

HS1 - The Slaying Stone - my poor reviewing skills review

Hey Logan, I don't know what kind of input you can provide to WoTC, but the downloadable player maps are still not up on the site (that I can find anyhow).

    What Edition/Version for my Mega-Dungeon

My first thought was BFRPG too, but I don't know how it plays at the levels specified, so I would suggest 3.5 which really hits it's stride from 8-12 and becomes obnoxious after that.
