    Do you DDI?

Not to mention my particular situation wasn't listed, so I chose that I am a subscriber. Technically, I am a subscriber, but I am not renewing when my subscription expires. So if the survey was done in Feb of next year, I would have a different answer. Perhaps the poll should have included...

    Do you DDI?

I have an annual subscription which expires mid January. I am on the fence about resubbing, and really need to see the new tools due out in December to decide if I am going to continue or not. I mainly subscribed for the character builder, and if that's being moved online, I might just stick...

    Maybe it's generational...

Oh those nights spend dreaming of Loni Anderson, ahhh... Oh, huh? Nothing to see here, move along.

    Gaming, Adults, and Growing Up

My wife doesn't get how I can sit and play D&D for 6 hours straight, but she also understands that I need some time with buddies. Certainly, I don't play nearly as much as I used to, but I still play. Many of us now have wifes and children and other responsibilities, but still I manage to play...

    D&D 5E (2014) What’s next for DDI

Who cares if the person redeeming the scratch off isn't the person who bought the book? It's not for a PDF version of the book, it's for a discount to DDI. Revenue lost from people buying a copy of the physical book to get one month of online service? If everyone did this and bought a book...

    D&D 5E (2014) What’s next for DDI

Wasn't that something Rouse suggested long ago? I think that would be a win / win / win. Retail wins because people will buy books. Consumers win because they get more function from the books. WoTC wins because they get new subscribers to try their services, and if they like them, keep them...

    D&D 5E (2014) What’s next for DDI

*taps his crystal ball* Man, your's must work better than mine, I don't see anything in the future. I don't see this AT ALL. First, I have printed books, functional dice and a pad of paper and a pencil. That's never going to change. While they might be errata, it seems like books like the...

November 16th release for Web-based Character Builder

I think it depends on which MMO you play and how you play it. I found World of Warcraft to have a pretty good story, if one stopped and bothered to read the quests and text presented. I do agree however, there is oodles of interactivity.

    New Character Builder from WotC!

Yeah, I know this (I even posted a link above to it). My entire point is that Paizo didn't develop the software, Lone Wolf did (or whomever). WoTC developed a tool in house, and the data it proprietary requiring a DDI login to access. The 4E 3rd party software probably allows you to enter it...

    D&D 5E (2014) What’s next for DDI

Or perhaps I was wrong... coming days may tell.... Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible Rumor, yes, but I believe that AL's track record for this sort of stuff, it's something that is coming... sooner than I expected.

    D&D 5E (2014) What’s next for DDI

You mean online CAMPAIGN tools I hope! :) For the next 12 months... hmm, they never shared the results of that survey did they? Visualizer is coming, online vaulting, offline viewers (for smartphones too I bet), a campaign tool like Masterplan. That's the extent of what I predict. I doubt...

    New Character Builder from WotC!

I'll disagree with you, my statement is totally correct. :) It wasn't an in house developed software package... it was written by a third party. Sure Paizo provides the data, but the tool itself was not built by Paizo. Paizo sells it on their site, and gives the data away, and Paizo probably...

Did Wrath of Ashardalon get pulled?

It's gone from Amazon.com's site now. I have it on preorder, but I don't see it listed any longer. Did I miss some news or is it just Amazon seeing that they might lose a ton of money selling it at $40 a copy?

    New Character Builder from WotC!

Herolab - 4th Edition - Hero Lab - Lone Wolf Development Heroforge - HeroForge Software - Downloads Those were what I was thinking of anyhow. There are probably others.

    New Character Builder from WotC!

This is puzzling to me. So the offline CB doesn't have Essentials in it, I can understand not wanting to subscribe to DDI. I don't mean for this to be a personal attack, but dropping D&D Essentials in favor of the Pathfinder system because of the lack of an offline Character Builder from the...

    New Character Builder from WotC!

I dunno, all I see are rainbows, lollipops and puppies everywhere! I don't think it's a port. I think it's a complete rewrite of the system, keeping only some of the database on the back end. If it was a port, it wouldn't be that tough to adjust the offline CB product. This new version...

What if Dragon and Dungeon go online only?

I would not be surprised if they did move Dungeon and Dragon to an online only format (using some sort of online only viewer). That probably won't stop piracy, they always figure a way around protective measures... there is just no way to stop that. But the reason I suspect might be different...

    New Character Builder from WotC!

The books being instantly errated isn't that for off from being erratad once a month. The PHB is so useless now I never look at it, it sits in a box now and the Rules Compendium has taken it's place. On the point of character vaulting, can't you still reference the printed page? They are also...

    Possible DDI News...

One other question not answered yet (and I asked in that linked thread) is what they plan to do about security on the site. At present, the site isn't HTTPS and is susceptible to sidejacking... you can bet I wouldn't use that in a public venue without using a VPN connection first to encrypt my...

    Possible DDI News...

Silverlight? Ugh. Well, the good news is more people should be able to use DDI now. The bad is I can't use CB off line any longer, which isn't imperative for me, but I know several people who would bring their laptops to the meetup events who aren't going to be very happy. Questions I am...
