    DM Question Time

Bah, misread your stopping one: We usually stop on an extended rest when possible... I plan my games for this eventuality. otherwise, we take notes of where we left off and it's a short rest instead.

    DM Question Time

Are they carrying around wads of coin? Where are they storing it? Perhaps the banker embezzled? Perhaps they get robbed? Resurrection costs can be high too, so kill one of them off :) Ritual components are always good, especially expensive ones. Favors another, or perhaps a boon that...

    Essentials' "Give Backs"

Sorry to do this "I think this is what X is thinking" thing, so I apologize in advance. I could see where the mechanic would be similar to overcharging at wills with power points. So martial classes would have encounter powers that you can spend exertion points on to bring them to a daily...

What are you doing to keep the hobby alive?

Where do I start? :) I organize a monthly meetup at our FLGS, which is open to ANY role playing game. We have one guy who has been running Ennie winning games for the past few meetups, which is freaking awesome. I also organize the Encounters program at the same store, and any Gameday events...

    Gamma World: Our First Session

Regarding the light rulebook... if we weren't famliar with 4E mechanics it would be a big question for a LOT of things. For example: Can you charge? Not in the rulebook. I too griped about the backs of the cards all being the same... pretty dumb. Also, would have been nice if the GM decks...

    Essentials' "Give Backs"

Aren't 4E Psionics the ones with At-Wills and dailies? The power point mechanic overcharging at-wills to pump them up but they still have daily powers. With any of this, DMs are still free to toss rules and powers out. Curious, are people afraid to modify the game these days as compared to 1E...

How do you get FREE next quest/adventure with Red Box Redemption Code

It was a 5x7 loose sheet found only in the red box I think.

Orcs of Stonefang Pass... sorry guess I am not running on all cylinders because I somehow missed we were talking about red box.

    Keep on Shadowfell...how long?

No way unless you went very fast. I think we did it in 6 four hour sessions. Things like Slaying Stone, Hommlet, Tomb of Horrors (The free RPGA mailed one) could all be done in a long day.

Red Box Monsters: Hints of Changes to Come?

Here is the exact verbage of the power: Orc Reaver Level 5 Skirmisher Savage Demise • Encounter Trigger: The orc drops to 0 hit points. Effect (No Action): The orc takes a standard action. So is it a free action or a standard action or a standard action that acts like a free action (or...

Red Box Monsters: Hints of Changes to Come?

I believe the trigger is "drops 0 hitpoints", so they are doomed no matter what. I'd let the savage charge fly, it sounds very orc like and not at all out of character. Let the players take OAs, but unless they have a way to stop the movement it's going to get it's charge off. Vicious and...

Try right clicking on the power cards when in the character sheet viewer, one of them toggles this display of the specific attacks.

Dungeon Tiles Master Set - The City

The last slide, the building roof tops... same on both sides? Like what I am seeing so far, was planning on picking up this set anyhow.

    8 page Adventures

I was reading dungeon #105 last night from my collection, and "The Stink" weighed in at 24 pages, not including the 2 full page pictures. "The Stink", which looks like a fun adventure for 3.x. This is fairly typical of the adventures I would run from Dungeon magazine in the 3.x era. I never...

I agree with your assessment of Orcs of Stonefang Pass. I had high hopes with seeing products like Hammerfast and Slaying Stone... only to have my hopes dashed with the Orcs of Stonefang Pass. Seems really inconsistent quality/layout styles with product coming out from Wizards of late. If...

Everything I need to know, I learned from D&D

I used to read D&D books with a dictionary nearby. At 12, I had no idea what dias, inverted ziggurrat, bailey, bas relief, etc meant, so I looked them all up. Always tap the hallway ahead with your 10 foot pole too!

    8 page Adventures

Now I am in the mood to look at some of my old adventures. I don't recall them being as short at the OP stated, but then I was young... and far more imaginative. For me, the most important things in an adventure are a) the plot, and b) what information is there that I can convey to the players...
