Selling my 2,000+ D&D Minis Collection

I will try to bid one some of them (like I could use the wolves) but I just wanted to applaud your motivation for selling the collection. I went through a time when I had racked up huge amounts of debt, and it took me a while to get totally debt free but it's amazing when you are finished doing...

    8 page Adventures

Complete... with cryptic stat blocks (although once used to them they were good to go) and almost no descriptions of the areas (much of it left up to the DM). Also, while the adventure was only 8 pages, I would have my Dungeon Masters Guide, Monster Manual, Players Handbook and a myriad of...

    Essentials' "Give Backs"

I have offered to run a Essentials 4E game for my friends who really like Pathfinder... no response was the reaction from them. So yeah, I suspect my friends are people who REALLY like pathfinder and aren't even interested in any other game right now. Which is fine, Pathfinder is a good game...

Best books to get for getting into 4th Ed?

Nitpicking, but it's $5.95, not $5.00 B-) I suggested one month because it's only a one time commitment of $9.95, if you don't like it, don't buy more. If you do... buy a year after that. But buying one month gets you all the content up to that point for a very low cost. So it's a good...

Best books to get for getting into 4th Ed?

For DDI, can I make one suggestion, just buy one month (and perhaps hold off till they put the Dark Sun stuff into CB). It never goes away and you will find that the Character Builder and Monster Builder are very nice tools to have. It will cost you less than any of the books and last forever...

    D&D Mini paints

I tend to use Apple Barrel acrylics. The crafts store had a big sampler pack with dozens of shades for $10 a while back, with some decent brushes total cost was $20. For wash I use "magic wash", mixture of dark color paint, water and floor cleaner called "Future" (Magic Wash) I have pretty...

D&D Essentials Live in Character Builder!

I can confirm that it's indeed not there, having just updated.

    Gamma World is a Gas!

I rolled up a couple characters yesterday and found that was pretty entertaining. I imagined that my giant plant was using a 4x4 fence post from the garden it spawned from. Half the fun is that there are no weapons or armor... it's all what you make up. Can't wait to play this.

Bummed about Reavers in DM Kit

I'll vouch for Slaying Stone too, but I have no idea what Reavers of the Harkenwold looks like yet.

    Got my Gamma World!

I think the ammo thing was covered in a preview. If you take more than <x> shots, you are out of ammo, otherwise you aren't. I can't remember, but I think <x> = 2

The new Gamma World - Thoughts/Questions

I suspect it's going to be more like 45 minutes real time. Besides, there is a pretty good chance that before the game is done you would be rolling up a new character anyhow. I haven't read the game yet, but I like the idea that mutation happen on a trigger, not at the end of encounters.

The new Gamma World - Thoughts/Questions

I am pretty sure that the two planned expansions will have more origins in them. I don't have a source for that but I could swear I read it somewhere. Regarding the card aspect, I think that everything done with the cards could have been done with a table, or a non-random booster pack...

Going digital with Maptools and 4e

Curious, if you are playing face to face, why the need for a framework? Wouldn't it be faster and more efficient to have players track stuff as they always have with pen and paper (and a plastic mini)? We do some of this with my friends Pathfinder game, he uses Maptool to present the maps and...

Pathfinder 1E D&D and Pathfinder tied for first place on ICv2 Q3 RPG sales list

I agree that Paizo products have better DM support and overall higher quality in the fluff department, but I really don't feel that Pathfinder is easier to teach the core rules to than 4E. I find that Pathfinder has rules for everything, rules I find I often have to look up to understand, often...

    Got my Gamma World!

Probably picking this up tonight. I need to run it before the gameday so I can understand how to teach it to people. Is it looking like something easy enough to adapt to if you are already familiar with 4E rules? For example, are opportunity attacks handled the same way? Movement? Etc?

Pathfinder 1E D&D and Pathfinder tied for first place on ICv2 Q3 RPG sales list

I'll clarify my statement regarding the Red Box. Yes, I think it's aimed at widening their audience, but the survey was of "hobby channel" retailers, distributers, etc. Red Box still sits on the shelf at the FLGS, because not many existing players are going to buy it. Target sales has the...

    Castle Ravenloft boardgame questions ...

Wait, initial treasures? I have only played a hand full of times but I don't recall that being a general rule. Is that is scenario specific thing or did I miss a rule?

Pathfinder 1E D&D and Pathfinder tied for first place on ICv2 Q3 RPG sales list

Paizo recently released a book that really expanded out options for players, something they hadn't done for a while (not since the core rulebook anyhow). At the same time, Wizards came out with red box and psionic power, which might be a far more limited audience. One of the things I can't...

    Recommend an adventure path

I don't know if you could still get it, but I *really* enjoyed the story in Age of Worms from a DMing aspect. There were some balance issues with 3.5 and higher levels (partly my fault for not restricting spats and letting magic get a little overpowered), but the underlying plot is pretty good...

    DDI September/October Update info

I'll wait to see what unfolds, but there are a number of mac users who might do the happy dance if they do make the CB a web app. Personally I don't care much one way or the other but I will dislike not being able to use a CB offline. Perhaps they will offer both?
