D&D 4E Another place to look for 4e tidbits? Magic Item Compendium

That's the direction they went with Reserve Feats as well. When they came out, we thought they were overpowered, but a lot of people who used them seem to find the exact contrary...

WotC_Rodney's Wizard: Sleep, magic missiles, and dimension door?

That's some sort of specialist variant, I think. There's also a spell in Spell Compendium (I think), called benign transposition (I also think), that's 1st level (boy, do I think a lot), wich allows some sort of teleport... and a Reserve feat (though it required 4th level spells) that lets you...

Points-of-light is not just for post-apocalyptic fantasy

It could be post-apocalyptic, but not Necessarily. And commercially speaking, points of light is great*: So kingdom A, presented in Dungeon #X is a point of light. You like it? Place it south of your homebrew point of light - with just a small portion of the 'sea of darkness' to cross, maybe...

    31 Flavors of Warlock

I'm sorry if I sounded so outraged, that's not the case (here). There's nothing wrong with 'pact' - but it kinda 'drips of evil'. It's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a 'pact': it's demons, and devils, and corruption, and 'you're gonna get screwed in the end'. It might be ok...

    Alternatives to Save or Die

I dont know if this is official, but that's the way I see it. I guess things that were supposed to kill you instantly are now hp damage, and everything else will be a condition that can be removed (magically or not), like charmed, poisoned, slowed, or that takes some time to evolve into a...

    31 Flavors of Warlock

Agreed. It's just another bad name WotC gave us... :\ (Gosh, we do need to make a list of bad words and start a "4E Translator Guide"...)

Condition track - wishful thinking, rumor or confirmed?

As much as I like the idea of doing something only when you're almost down, self mutilation will problably happen in some groups (my little cousins, online players, will do it often :( ), so I'm ok with people fearing the HP condition track... specially if this bloodied condition triggers some...

    BAB + Int mod?

As long as the Class Bonuses scale with level within said class, I'm ok with it: so if a Wizard starts with a crappy bonus to [whatever], he could multiclass into Ranger to get a better bonus, but if he sticks with wizardry, by the time he gets to level 19th his bonus will be so much better than...

    BAB + Int mod?

You mean, Melee Attack Bonus = 1/2 level + class bonus + STR bonus + feats Ranged Attack Bonus = 1/2 level + class bonus + DEX bonus + feats Magic Attack Bonus = 1/2 level + class bonus + INT bonus + feats roll d20: +Melee Attack vs Armor Class +Ranged Attack vs Reflex Save +Magic Attack...

    Educated guess on Multi-Classing

I'm surprised no one mentioned Power Sources as of yet. My guess is that's where the limitation is: if a fighter 10 multiclass into rogue, he will get half fighter levels to stack with his rogue powers, because both classes belong to the Martial Power Source - he'll only have access to 1st level...

    Zombies! New Dungeoncraft article up

As someone who's seen Shaun of the Dead about 5 times and have been (re)playing the Resident Evil remake on Nintendo DS for the past days, I find this article awesome! :D Even though some people might not like WotC saying 4e zombie will be based on movies and games, fhe flavor they're going...

    Whither Summoners and Animal Companions?

so, is it possible that, while the wizard is a controller, the wizard summoner will be a... leader? I mean, with all the bossing around his minions and stuff... Or could it be that he is both a leader and a controller? It would be the same with druid: leader/controller... :uhoh: Maybe this...

No turning for clerics? (A question, not a rumor.)

Well, it might not be the same, but there is the Bloodied condition now... i'm assuming that, since it's listed next to HP, it is different for different monster (types). Considering how miniatures seem to take more place in 4E, what if by the time you get Bloodied you must make a Moral save in...

    Weakening Spells for Metamagic

I like it, but I think only spells that increase potency at higher caster levels should be allowed, and the penalty should reduce the effective caster level at least by 2 per spell level (since thats the math going around spell and caster levels). Scorching Ray and fixed damage/effect spells...

No turning for clerics? (A question, not a rumor.)

I really hope they make one big pool of divine power and force turn undead, spontaneous cures, domain magic, remove curses, smite evil, and other clerical/paladin powers to draw from that same pool. Every deity would have a list of available powers, like talent trees or domains or something...

I think I've figured out power sources...

there's already a variant in UA that does something similar: Magic Rating http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/magicRating.htm Essentially, every class has a Caster Level progression - even fighters and rogues! - and they stack when multiclassing. Of course, a fighter can't use his caster...

How would you like the Monsterous Manual organized

This will probably happen since they're aiming at newcomers to the game. It's often very hard for them to group monsters together. Newbie DM: "You walk down the dungeon corridor and find... err... a manticore and... hmm... a fish". :p also, they keep saying how mixed encounter will be more...
