    Options for arcane healing spells?

I thought Planeshifting wasnt on the table (moving to another plane in order to heal yourself? ). Instead, bringing a portion of the other plane into the Material World - that´s why a healing attuned plane. I suppose a dreadfull place like The Abyss or The Nine Hells isnt exactly the best...

    Fiery Burst: Overpowered?

reserve feats might seem increadibly overpowered at a first glance, but some of them actually suck (like the one you reduce enemy movement WITHIN 30ft! - if i'm remembering it correctly. I mean, what´s the point of slowing a raging-power attacking-charging-greataxe wielding barbarian coming at...

    Options for arcane healing spells?

Oh, good! I thought I was the only one who noticed that years ago, still in 3rd edition :p My only problem with it, is the research part on wich I'm not so fluent... though I believe it should have a much harder DC to learn, since the sorcerer is trying to (almost literally) 'knock on heaven's...

Rules that never made sense to you?

Wow, never thought about it before. Totally makes sense paying double move through a friendly square - I'm totally using it next time I DM :] (even nastier would be giving your friend an AC penalty until next round :uhoh: )

    Fire elementals

I agree with you. Yesterday, an exquisite 'vision' came to my mind... what if (and be warned that most dreadful questions start with 'what if') an Ogre or a Large Dragon could breath in a small Air Elemental? Can you plant a tree or flowers on Huge Earth Elementals? Can you make a six-pack out...

    Fire elementals

I'd like to know that as well! It seems there are a lot of PrC or class variants out there proposing an elemental companion or familiar... what happens when a Wizard chooses a fire elemental as a familiar? Does it burn all his spellbooks? The SRD does say that "Creatures...

    Creating an Active Skill Focus

Adding ranks instead of bonuses is nice when you´re building for a prestige class. But when it comes down to using the skill, 2 ranks are not as sexy as a +3 bonus (unless 2 ranks are what you need to get those synergies bonuses, but let's assume this is not the case), so players will (most...

    Creating an Active Skill Focus

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, or if it's overpowered, but have you considered doing something like Action Points (i.e. adding 1d6 to a check)? Say, a Skill focus grants a +3 bonus, and allows you to add 1d6 to a check once a day (and if you get the feat multiple times you can...

Turning favored class into a bonus, not a penalty

In that Conan favored class rule... what happens to humans? Can they choose a class to get the benefit from or do they get no bonus at all? (a human fighter with 4 feats at 1st level? where do I sign? :p )

Champion (new Cleric), Let me know what you think

I'm not sure its that harsh... if you see him as the champion of a deity, the miracle child, groomed from birth by priests in monasteries, praticaly an evidence of the divine on earth - who said the path of the virtuous was easy? Maybe there are really few Champions alive, and maybe they have to...

New spell feat and accompanying rules- Synergetic Spellcasting

Have you played the old (ancient...) Phantasy Star IV, on Sega Genesis? My god, I used to love playing that, specially because of the magic system in wich you combined spells... the fire storm was a classic! :D I've only glanced at your post, so I'm not sure wether your spell synergies...

    experimental magic system: caster check

Maybe you could allow spellcaster to buy and use those metamagic feats but, if they failed, they would became fatigued, exausted, stuned, etc, since they would'nt be able to handle the magic energy in a proper manner... Risking status changes or upping the DC for future spellcasting might pay...

Turning favored class into a bonus, not a penalty

Agreed :p I often see barbarian rage as a vicious ability, since I only play spellcasters :uhoh: But if you think another rage wouldnt hurt anyone (hehehe... ;) ), go for it. What I meant earlier was that another use of an ability that you wouldn´t get until 3 or 5 levels after could...

    Feat every level...

I like the idea of feats every levels, but... do you do that for every PC as well as NPC and monsters with class levels? I dont own any of the Monster Manuals, so I print them out from the SRD... but even then, do you go all the way into twitching their stats too? And if you don't, isn't that...

Turning favored class into a bonus, not a penalty

hmmm... :uhoh: I want to say "yes", but since I'm playing "once in a blue moon", I don't think I'll be playtesting it very soon. :\ I have to say I like the idea of giving an extra use of an iconic class power, like smiting or rage... but I´m still worried about the "only one level to take...

D&D d20 Idea for Clerics - Spontaneously Cast Domain Spells Only

Totally agreed! I guess I'm not the only one who finds that a bit odd (to say the least  ). Either way, that always reminds me of an old OotS strip. Well, in Engilbrand´s defense, I guess those are the granted powers of the Plant and Earth domain, so that´s what you´d have to change...

    Armor as DR

:p does that make sense or does that make sense? I think you really nailed it! Though i´m concerned that it won´t get to my table, since there´s just too much math and details to be remembered - but I suppose that´s what you meant by bolding 'realism' or 'combat simulation' :p But...

Turning favored class into a bonus, not a penalty

For the most part, I dont see it as a benefit, but I do get your point. I like the idea of a bonus to favored classes mostly because that would make the game faster/easier, as players tend to remind you of their bonuses - as well of keeping track of them - whereas the DM has already a lot on his...

D&D d20 Idea for Clerics - Spontaneously Cast Domain Spells Only

that´s a good idea, Engilbrand. My main concern while reading was the high number of spells this Specialist Priest would get at 1st level ... but then again the warmage is kinda like that too, right (i can´t remember...). At 1st level, a 12 Wisdom Cleric would get 6 known spells (2 he can swap...

Turning favored class into a bonus, not a penalty

I love the idea. I´ve been meaning to acomplish something similar, giving a bonus for those who get a level in a favored class, but I thought about extra skill points or extra feat (every N-th level) but I actually love your concept of giving each class a different bonus. Very tasteful :p...
