D&D 4E So Whats Drizzt up to in 4E?

He was last spotted celebrating that all his cool drow stuff hadn't melted in the sunlight. Cheers, Roger

    D&D Bathtub?

The 3.5 SRD lists a barrel at 2 gp and 30 lb. For a tub I might double that. Cheers, Roger

What monster abilities do you hate and why?

I'd put my money on Telepathy. Like with the AD&D doppelganger, for example. It doesn't seem quite right for the DM to say "Hey, so if your character starts to think maybe there's something wrong with the little old lady, let me know immediately." Cheers, Roger

    Rot Grubs: Need Fire

Hmmm. Some of my thinking on the bonus: You're still taking randomized damage. Sure, you might only need 9 points for an automatic save. But if you're getting hit for 2d6+2, you might take only 4, or you might take 14. To get up to 9 points, you might be asking your EL4 chums to burn an...

    Rot Grubs: Need Fire

The rot grub has reappeared in 4e, and I like it a lot. But I feel like it's missing that iconic image of the guy covered in rot grubs and his friends poking him with torches. So here's my take on that: While you're taking ongoing damage from rot grubs, if you take fire damage, you can make...

I need the name of a Powerful Air Elemental

According to ye olde Wikipedia: In Greek mythology, the Anemoi (in Greek, Ἄνεμοι — "winds") were wind gods who were each ascribed a cardinal direction, from which their respective winds came, and were each associated with various seasons and weather conditions. Of the four chief Anemoi...

False dichotomies and other fallacies RPGers use

The fallacy of "It's something RPG players do, so of course it belongs in General RPG Discussion!" Cheers, Roger

    Henchmen & Hirelings

I could totally see my party doing this. "We're not getting any XP! But who cares! We've got an army!" Cheers, Roger

:( Who else is unhappy that XP comments are now showing up in the post?

Greasemonkey Script I've thrown together a very rudimentary Greasemonkey Script that removes the XP Comments box in posts. You can try it at: RemoveENWorldXPComments for Greasemonkey Seems to work fine, but I haven't exactly tested it extensively. Cheers, Roger

    Ship Map Help

If you wanted to base it on the Skuldelev 2 Norse longship, it'd be about 30m long and 4m wide. That's 20 squares long, 3 squares wide. Cheers, Roger

    New status effects?

Something to replace the Hidden/Invisible statuses, which can be a bit cumbersome. Naked, or at least Pantsless, comes up often enough. Hapless, which would be slightly-less lethal than Helpless. Off-Balance: lose your minor action. Cheers, Roger

Running a villain using PC rules instead of NPC

Interesting. Of course, assassin may be more of a pain-in-the-butt class to do this with than some other classes. I hope he was using the owlbear as a mount. Cheers, Roger

How to build an indepth character

How strict are you with the rules when you DM?

This thread needs poll. I'd like to see an actual poll on the subject, anyway.

Important: Please Read! Changes Are Coming!

A higher-tier paid option to never see anyone's signature ever again -- now that would be the sort of thing I might pay an additional $3 a month for. Under your current proposal, my concern on a technical level would be that people will just move traditional sig info into the body of their...

    (Poll) Usage of Low-Light Vision

Inspired by a thread over in House Rules: How often does Low-Light vision (particularly in PCs, but also among monsters) actually come up as a significant factor in your games? I've been playing 4E for a while now, and I can't think of a single time it's actually come up in play in my...

How to edit the character sheet

I've written up some instructions about how to edit the (XPS) character sheet file. They're a bit extensive for a forum post, but they're up on my blog: Stirges Suck: How to Edit the Character Builder XPS Character Sheet Hopefully some of you out there find that useful. Cheers, Roger
