Quicker than the Eye feat - broken?

Hey - I wasn't attacking your position or anything :) I was just wondering if you had another mechanic. I've never had anyone use it, but I also don't really like the existing mechanic. I do understand your point about the CHARACTER feinting as part of his attack, but I like having the PLAYER...

    Revised DR

Question - what do you do now if the monster is DR30/+3 and the players only have +2 weapons and no access to GMW? Isn't it the point of the new DR system that even if they don't have the right weapons they could still, eventually, defeat the creature - it just would take a lot longer? I'm not...

Quicker than the Eye feat - broken?

Just curious - what mechanic do you use for feinting then? IceBear

Quicker than the Eye feat - broken?

I don't have anyone playing a rogue, but I can't imagine that it would be very difficult for a player of a rogue to find a way to get in sneak attack in each battle (if the opponents can be sneak attacked); he just has to flank. I know if I was a rogue I'd be sinking tons of points into...

    [Challenge] Use Magic Device silliness

I don't read that as giving you the ability to turn undead. It states that it allows a cleric or paladin to turn undead as if she were 4 levels higher. It doesn't state, this item gives you the ability to turn undead. IceBear

D&D 3.x Playing in a DND3E game with no magic items

I do think that they do mention in The Wheel of Time books that the spellcasters would overshadow the non-casters. IceBear

    No end to polymorph self?

They haven't been good at updating the errata. They've put more into the FAQ than the errata. One reason they gave for doing 3.5 was because people keep asking for updated errata. I'm not sure what the business reasons were for not updating the errata, but they pretty much haven't updated the...

    No end to polymorph self?

You're right Henry, but I had thought after my blow-up post, everything was ok in the thread. It was really me and not Lucius that should be chastised. I'd just be a better person on here if I could push a button and not see someone's posts. Is there a means to do this? IceBear

    No end to polymorph self?

No, I'd rather for him to die due to a mistake on his part than "divine intervention" :D IceBear

    No end to polymorph self?

Re: Lucius-Broken? I know. From the moment him and Tom started to coordinate subtle shots in a past thread I knew that Lucius was like that. Just the fact that he does it subtly - rather than a wild swings that is most commonly used on these forums - led me to an image of a guy that was just...

    Does being invis stop AoO?

I know Stalker - I changed my opinion if you read above. It's just that someone else described an AoO like that back at a time when I was grappling with AoO against invisible people and it clicked with me (but I had completely forgotten that the attacker chooses to take the AoO or not). Once...

    No end to polymorph self?

Yeah, I know. Shouldn't let people get to me, but for some reason he pushes my buttons just right. IceBear

    No end to polymorph self?

Lucius - I'm not defensive about it - I just have a personal dislike for you. All you like to do is make subtle sarcastic comments and stand on "I'm a rule purist" soapbox. It's because I dislike you that I jab back, not because I'm defensive. BTW - when I say I dislike you, I mean I dislike...

    No end to polymorph self?

Lucius for the LAST F*&#ing time - I DON'T houserule as much as you think, so this lame schtik of yours is getting pretty old. When I made that comment to Tom, it was because he was using the wrong version of polymorph self and not the errataed (OFFICAL) version. He seemed upset that there...

pounce (MM) = pounce (MM II) ?

I think the new pounce helps clarify the ability - some people were confused. It's acutally how I houseruled pounce to work since almost the beginning (look at how a big cat takes down prey). As long as you treat the creature with the right intelligence (ie, a lepord double moving away so it...

    D&D 3.x Hardness. Dumbest rule in 3E?

And that's what DR X/- means too - subtract X damage no matter the weapon or attack. So they ARE the same thing (at least when it comes to physical attacks). As other's have said, it the golem that's in the fault and not the hardness rules themselves. IceBear

Oooooh - A sorcerer with flavor

Hehehe - I didn't design it, so it's not mine :) I saw it on the Dragonlance Nexus and thought it might be interesting (mainly the spheres, the rest I was less sure of) and asked for more experienced input. I was thinking of replacing the PHB sorcerer with this one if the responses were...

    Monk Revisions

But Bob, the reason that we said it was weak was because you postulated that the monk was TOO powerful. Thus we focused on where the monk was weak - offensive combat - to show you that the monk wasn't unbalanced. I personally think the monk is an interesting character to play, but a party that...

Trip as an action.. many questions.. also, is it worth it to trip an opponnent?

Hehehehehe. Yeah, I know what you mean. Like I said - maybe they'll realize that trips would become too powerful in D&D (in general the attack bonuses and whatnot are higher in D&D than D20 Modern - at least I would think so with the lower magic) and leave it alone. It's just that almost...

Trip as an action.. many questions.. also, is it worth it to trip an opponnent?

Man, I went over the SRD and looked for Standing Up from Prone and couldn't find it :p Hmmmm - the d20 Modern Trip attack specifically states that standing up does invoke an AoO, and based how things are going I suspect that this will be true in 3.5. Then again, maybe they figure trip attacks...
