Both conversions fail to represent what was there. Mechanically imposed game balance is the problem, most probably. I house rule my own. The Dragon version seemed like it was just regurgitated out. About as fan-tastic as the Sha'ir. ciaran

Apart from the silent dispels, YOU can only move 5 feet. The other guy can take his move action and possibly move out of range. He might quicken teleport out of range, too... ciaran

Dark Sun has Bluff rules for hiding somatic components. I personally use Sleight of Hand opposing a Spot roll. Verbals Components are hard to miss, sorry. There is NO mistaking what the spellcaster is doing. Aren't there feats to go around this? ciaran

Well, a player wouldn't normally want this on his character sheet as part of his character's weakness, esp. if the solution (for dispatching him) was a common one. My point is, all their immunities are worth jack with a single exploit. Also, how is DM-B.S.'ing immunity to disintegrate options...
