Class Mechanics: Which Race is best?

While I agree that the half-elf doesn't have a fantastic role, there are a few that it can be good at, such as: Bard. Not quite as good as Gnomes, even a bit behind humans, but half-elves *do* get those nice racial bonuses on Diplomacy and Gather Information, which are usually a Bard's forte...

How to build a better assassin...

It would account for a major chunk of your wealth at ninth level, but you could go for an assassin's dagger (+2 Dagger that gives a +1 bonus on the DC). Possibly look for it in a different sort of weapon, especially if you're focusing in something (say you worship a deity that would favor...

    Multiclass based PrCs...

Fochlucan Lyrist (Complete Adventurer) comes to mind as a class that requires numerous classes as prerequisites. You need to be able to cast 1st level arcane and divine spells, you need bardic knowledge and evasion, you need to be able to speak druidic, and you need a variety of skills. But...

Help me Generate a Lvl 10 Archer

Well, encumberance-wise, the throwing axe is lighter than the club (two pounds to three). Although the fact that you can easily replenish your clubs from materials found in a dungeon or forest is a good one. And, yeah, you can get a little more damage with the club.

Help me Generate a Lvl 10 Archer

Nope, Monks are proficient with daggers. However, they can't use them for Flurry of Blows. If you want to use them for a flurry, switch over to Sai, which are virtually identical to daggers (except they only threaten crits on 20s). Other good options for throwing weapons include throwing axes...

    Combat Vigor: loophole?

Dude, how is punching a puppy *not* Evil? Even if you don't try to kill it, you're *punching a puppy*.

    D&D 5E (2014) Fighter12 just gained a level. What next?

Nothing at all wrong with a few levels of Barbarian or Rogue. Ranger probably wouldn't give you all that much - neither of the combat styles really works with a scythe, which means you would get Track and Endurance, and some skill points. I can't think of any Prestige Classes that you qualify...

    Skills for a Wizard

I'd probably go with Scorching Ray for my attack spell over Melf's Acid Arrow. Mirror Image could be a decent one to go with as well. If you have a couple points left to spend, you could do worse than getting a rank of Jump. If you're untrained in jumping, you fall prone unless you beat a DC...

    Skills for a Wizard

I would have to agree that Knowledge skills are really useful for a Wizard with lots of extra skill points (and, with only three essential skills and Intelligence being their primary stat, they should have extra skill points). Critter identification is really useful, and it can come up for all...

Beguilers & Warmages can learn any spell

No, we can't. Why? Because Dread Necromancer is a class from Heroes of Horror. Heroes of Horror is not a core book. Complete Arcane says you need the three core books, and that it references the Epic Level Handbook and the Underdark supplement for the FRCS - the latter two "are not strictly...

Beguilers & Warmages can learn any spell

Ok. So, here's a question. If a 9th level Beguiler takes Extra Spell and picks Blindness/Deafness, what level spell is it? It isn't on his class list... its a 2nd level Sorcerer/Wizard and Bard spell... but a 3rd level Cleric spell. I think that's where the whole, "You can pick any spell...

Plz! Help me build my new character

If your Strength is higher than your Dexterity, then weapon finesse is virtually useless. As for whether it'd be worth it to get three levels of Swashbuckler, that depends on your intelligence - a 12 Intelligence Swashbuckler, probably not. A 16 intelligence swashbuckler, quite possibly. As...

    Light Fighter - Swashbuckler

Yeah. Take a level of Dervish, and dual-wield scimitars, as a Drow... it'd be real unique! ;)

    Light Fighter - Swashbuckler

Not really. Out of the MM races, a number of the +1 LA races have a charisma penalty. Aasimar get the bonus, Hobgoblins don't take a penalty, and that's about it. Aasimar are obviously handy for that Charisma boost. But, beyond that, are their abilities going to help you? You get Daylight...

Plz! Help me build my new character

Quite possibly; as I said in the my analysis, the lack of HP hurts. I also pointed out that the build had a higher Charisma than normal, to go for more of a swashbuckler feel. Swapping the two would give an extra 20 hit points, and is worth it if the campaign will include lots of combat. If...

Plz! Help me build my new character

The only change I'd make here is a level of ranger, swashbuckler, or even barbarian at level 1. All of these are more useful than that fifth level of fighter, if only for the increased skill points. Of course, they each provide an extra ability of some sort (Track and a favored enemy, Weapon...

    Gestalt Paladin/Rogue Archer build help?

Yeah, Shadowbane Stalker has some decent potential for you. However, you'll be racking up extra spells (all but two levels increase your casting power). The Shadowbane Inquistor doesn't increase in spellcasting, but is more of a melee class (requires Power Attack, gets Improved Sunder, etc.)
