    OotS 502 is up!

Probably because its a suicide mission. V is too logical to throw his/her life away on a suicide mission, and Durkon wouldn't unless he got a sign from Thor that it was the right thing to do.

    This can't be right.

I'd say no way that's a fair ruling. But if it is, it means you gain XP if he ever uses summoned monsters against you, because that made for a larger encounter.

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

I'd probably allow it, but I wouldn't make it an automatic 'Ok, I move over here when he fires, I'm safe now'. I'd probably look at one of these options: The caster makes some sort of a check (I'm thinking maybe Reflex, Intelligence, or Wisdom) to re-aim the spell, and possibly still hit you...

    Oots 501!

There's also the chance that it's a magic eyepatch. I mean, if they found a magic eyepatch, they'd probably give it to a permanent PC, as opposed to a fill-in character, and Durkon and V would probably look rather dumb with an eyepatch... looking dumb isn't something that seems like it'd bother...

    Bad monsters

Right now? Mummies. My 5th level party just fought one and, while they won... I don't think it was particularly fun. Particularly for the rogue - its AC was too high for her to hit consistently, its DR and undeadness made it almost impossible for her to damage, it could hit her fairly easily...

    OotS 500

Well, from what Roy's mom said, it really sounds as if Eugene was, in his youth (and life) a man of rather intense passions. That when something struck him as being important, it was *all* important. Winning Sara's heart was very, very important to him... for a time. Defeating Xykon and...

    OotS 500

Nope. Shojo admits he isn't Lawful. I don't think Eugene will ever admit he isn't Lawful Good.

    Getting feedback from players

I try to chat with at least a few of my players between sessions (and mix it up a bit to get different opinions) to see what's going well and what can be improved. I'm hoping that they're not lying to me when they say the game seems to be going well. Any clues you can get from them at the...

I'm guessing he's marrying Kazumi and Daigo, after they finally got their cup of-

    So..tell me about Eberron

Currently, we're doing a Last War game. Which has been a bit more 'traditional dungeon crawling' recently - the PCs are all fighting for Aundair. We've got a mercenary kobold sorc, a marked member of House Sivis who in theory is there as communications, though I think she's forgotten that she...

    So..tell me about Eberron

Yup. Like I said... its a continent designed for traditional dungeon crawling. You can very easily say things like: -Your party has been sent to Xen'drik to begin scouting out locations for the next Wayfinder's Expedition -Your party has been hired by a Professor of Antiquities at Morgrave...

    Master Spellthief

Yes, you're wrong on this. It lets you add your spellthief levels to arcane caster levels for *caster level*, *not* for spells known, spells per day, or the level of spells you can cast. Its the same as taking Practiced Spellcaster. That said, its a pretty powerful feat. It *does* allow...

    Ubercharger build?

If you want to do it with a Paladin, pick up the Spell Compendium. Rhino's Rush is a first level Paladin spell that will double the damage from a charge; if you're combining it with, say, spirited charge and a lance, it would get up to 4x damage on the charge. Given, since you'll want charging...

    So..tell me about Eberron

Look, all I know is that you can very easily run countless fun Eberron games without ever touching anything beyond the PHB, DMG, MM, and ECS. So it sounds to me like your biggest change for running Eberron would be to not allow players to freely add whatever book they choose when making their...

    How do you use traps?

This is something I've really struggled with - adding interesting traps to a dungeon, without it feeling forced. It seems to me that most traps are impractical or illogical in most dungeons - they're added to give the rogue something to do, or to eat up some of the party's resources...

    So..tell me about Eberron

Really? I... I don't see those in the ECS, and I know they're not in the PHB. So how is that an Eberron problem, precisely? And while some of the things that *you* dislike may be problems for the OP, or anyone else undecided on Eberron who is reading this thread (given that the OP has already...

    So..tell me about Eberron

This just really baffles me because, as has been noted, the assumption is that your average people (even folks who fought in the Last War, maybe even decorated veterans) are primarily going to have NPC classes. Yes, the PCs are going to go beyond that, as will a number of people that they...

Do you ever use "expendable henchmen"?

I've never done this, or even considered it, but now that its been mentioned, I can certainly see some value in it, and will keep it in mind. Certainly not something to use often, but throwing something like that in every now and then could certainly be effective. Just something to hint at...

    So..tell me about Eberron

See, I don't see them *starting* as larger-than-life, though they can certainly get there a lot faster than they might in Faerun or other settings. My point was more that, in an Eberron game, it tends to make sense that the PCs are the ones taking on dangerous and important jobs - you don't...

How do Shifters and Changelings fit in Eberron?

Its not saying much... but at least its better mechanically than half-orcs, who also have a net -2, a bonus on strength which is useful to fewer classes than a bonus on dexterity (in my experience) and darkvision. I'd rather have the shifter's group of benefits even without taking any shifter...
