    What book should I buy?

I'd buy the FR Player's Guide, because you don't really have the full campaign setting without both the Campaign and the Player's books. From the two you're contemplating, I'd find Open Grave more useful, but that's just because I like undead more than dragons ;)

    BD&D vs. AD&D

I like more Basic because it's very light, very easy to fudge and very expandable (and I can use the AD&D modules with it). Advanced was better for campaign play but, as nowadays I find 3.x better than AD&D for campaign play, it has no spot on my gaming schedule. My "D&D scale" would be 3.x >...

    Preview: The Warden

Wow. When WotC releases a "class encyclopaedia" series, there will be one tome for classes beginning with "war-", and another one for all the rest. The guys who make up abbreviations must really hate the class naming department :p

    The Average Gamer Age?

I think the most gaming is, on average, done during the University years, so 18-24 it would be. OTOH, those were precisely the years when I gamed the less (you know, I was too busy then getting drunk and trying to get laid).

How do I handle: 2 players want same game, but won't play with each other?

I've been player B. I'm also the GM, so it makes things easier for me :D

What RPG Do You Play Most?

I've been running almost exclusively a Pathfinder Beta campaign since it came out, with a couple of Trail of Cthulhu games and a sort-of-weekly BD&D mini-campaign with my students. I'm looking forward to a game as a player, or try any of the cool games that are collecting dust in my shelves...

UA alternate XP table/static value. Anyone use it?

We're using Pathfinder's xp tables since the Beta came up, and it's a great relief. I no longer have to take out the calculator to find how many xp does each PC get.

    Non-WoD vampire games?

Having just finished a True Blood marathon, I'm thinking about running a "vampire society" game, you know, the typical one where PC's are transformed into vampires and have to deal with their new situation and the vampiric traditions and problems, blah blah blah. The thing is, I don't like the...

The Dungeon Master or The Rules: why would you play in a RPG campaign?

Roleplaying is an activity I take part with my friends. So, it's the friends the important part, not the specific system. In fact, I've been years joyfully playing an AD&D2 campaign, and I loathe that system. The moment I think the book we're using is more important than the fact that I'm...

Monk a striker: Why? (Forked Thread: 3rd Party Poopers)

In our PFRPG game, the monk has been acting as a controller, focusing on opponents already engaged with the fighter or the barbarian and effectively "debuffing" them with combat maneuvers, stunning fist, etc. OTOH, in 4e, who knows? ;)

3.5e 1st level adventure for a newbie DM?

Crucible of Freya is a very good, very easy to DM, 1st-level module. It also has an oldschoolish shade some people find quite enjoyable. The Whispering Cairn is a bit more complex, but it's IMO the best 1st-level adventure I've ever read. And if neither of those suit your tastes, you can...

Best Version of Call of Cthulhu

I have fond memories of "Dead Reckonings", a compilation of 3 scenarios. I've run the first one several times, mostly to beginners, and it was always good.

    3rd Party Poopers

I'm a "core-only" DM myself. Well, almost. The only splats I consistently used as a DM were the Spell Compendium, Player's Handbook II and the Bookf of Iron MIght. What I did use a lot from 3PP as a DM were adventures and monsters.

Is 3.5 experience a sales renaissance?

I and my players are indeed buying some 3.5 stuff; we're hooked on Paizo products, and I myself am waiting for the 3.5 sales to come to Spain in order to buy some WotC books I'd like to have a look at (Expanded Psionics, maybe a couple of Eberron books). As we aren't buying any 4e book, I'd say...

    Dming Help

3 hours for an adventure sounds right to me. And don't worry if you feel you're "not using the rules". The rules of the Basic Set are more like guidelines. If you keep your decisions fair, it doesn't matter if it's actually in the rulebook or not. As some people here suggested, you should have...

Have you played Mazes & Minotaurs?

I like Greek and Latin mythology for reading; for my gaming I like something more cheesy (I don't care for games heavily based on Tolkien or Martin either). When I have the time, I'll probably have a look at it, because I like reading rules. Are the rules different enough from OD&D or are they...

    I hate mysteries

For me, a mystery game is like a puzzle... But not like completing a puzzle. Instead of that, it's more like getting enough pieces of the puzzle to figure out what its picture is. That means the players should have different places/people available to investigate, and each of them should be...
