    What is missing from 4E

I wouldn't use Tome of Battle as a point in a discussion about 3e. ToB is definitely not "3e" but "pre-4e". I don't know anybody who liked ToB and didn't adopt 4e.

What did you never like in 3e?

    * Skill ranks, combined with class/closs rank skills, synergies, 4x 1st level skill points... * Combat moves doable, but klunky. Fortunately, Pathfinder solved (for me) these problems :) Now, my greatest complain about 3.x is: * My players calling me on weekdays to tell me about their...

    Which is D&D? 4e or 2e?

I'm not afraid of zombies, so bring it on :p Anyway, for me the solution is quite clear: if a friend tells me he's going to run a D&D game, I'll sit at his table, whatever book(s) he wants to use. Shouldn't that be enough?

    What is missing from 4E

And that's because people don't have the decency of clearly stating if they're "pro" or "against" 4e before posting objective observations, therefore infuriating both sides :p

    D&D is awesome

That reminds me of a 2e game where we stopped an army with a flock of birds, plenty of polymorph scrolls and the "white whale" keyword ;) And yes, it was awesome.

    Which is D&D? 4e or 2e?

I honestly think that 2e players should be called Don, and 4e players Steve. That's so obvious I wonder why it didn't come up earlier.

What are the most played roleplaying systems anymore?

It is, even in Spain. It was a very cheap book, and the comics it was based on were very popular back then. It even spawned some related games, as Fampiro or... I can't recall the name of the Space Opera one :p

Help me write my character's story

In some months' time, I'm being a player in a friend's OA/Rokugan campaign. The fact is, he's asking us for detailed characters' backgrounds, and I'm more of a "write a couple of sentences now, work out the details later" guy. So, I'm asking you to do the dirty work for me ;) My character is a...

    Observations on Adventure Paths

I've run Age of Worms (up until a TPK in "The Champion's Belt"), and am currently running Rise of the Runelords (we're in the middle of "The Hook Mountain Massacre"). Although I loved Whispering Cairn, I find RotRL better, because it manages to maintain a theme while introducing variations in...

Forked Thread: D&D: Generic and Specific Both?

And yet, I'd play 2e over 1e anytime (although I'd play HackMaster over both of them) ;) Maybe because 2e had the best settings and streamlined some of the crazy Gygaxness of 1e, and because I could easily use 1e's modules (its best feature) with it.

What are the most played roleplaying systems anymore?

Then Aquelarre would be for you. It's a d100-based game set in Spain, which covers two periods (as in the latter editions of CoC): the 14th and the 17th Centuries. It's "catch" is the assumption that local folklore and myths were real, and they can affect you more the more you believe in them...

What are the most played roleplaying systems anymore?

The same thing happens in Spain. For example, RuneQuest had always been a bigger game than AD&D up until 3e, just because it was one of the first rpgs widely published here. That's the same reason we don't really have a 1e nor a GURPS crowd. These days, D&D, Call of Cthulhu and oWoD are, I...

    What makes a good Setting?

The D&D tradition is pastiche at its finest ;) so, in few words: draw a map, steal whatever you like from tv, novels, comics, videogames, other RPGs or even the real world, find those things a place on that map and work around the relationships between neighbors. For a twist, you could take two...

    OotS 611 is up!

You know, maybe he'll ascend to divinity as the SSGoW :D What would a priest of Belkar be like?

What should be turned into a RPG?

I know I'm not the only one who thinks an Order of the Stick RPG (or just Campaign Setting) would rock ;) Apart from that, maybe a Super Mario RPG, or something based on Final Fantasy VII (the closest to this one would be Eberron). I've always thought Warhammer 40K would be a great setting, and...

    Starting hit points?

I would post it on the Paizo playtest forums, but they don't have (or I can't find) a poll option, so here it goes ;) Which option from the ones proposed do you use for starting hit points in your Pathfinder 1st-level games? Is there a difference between what you do in PFRPG and what you do/did...

    Building size

I tried to map my apartment using a 5' grid. It was depressing :p

Forked Thread: D&D: Generic and Specific Both?

It's not that D&D is generic; it's that it has become generic. D&D was (and is) huge -as well as awesome ;) So, in the beginning, D&D was a mix-match of very different, very quirky stuff (Vance, Moorcock, Howard, Tolkien, John Wayne, Bruce Lee, Sci-Fi, Hammer horror films...). All these...

How Many Beers per Gaming Session?

We don't usually drink, although we are not against it. Certainly, we're not against other kinds of drugs at the table :D

What size is your combat grid?

Same here. I would use Dungeon Tiles, but I wasted too much time looking for the specific tile I needed, so these days I just use the wilderness ones for random encounters, a couple of published DDM maps for city scenarios and things like that, and my old DDM laminated map for general...
