    Trampling; again for clarification

You wouldn't get a chance at the Fighter if he hit either. The elephant is still 1 square away when it provokes, and is stopped 1 square away.

    Bluff for CA

Only seen it used as a minor via Daring Blade's 16 feature.

Holy Implement Expertise - can't grant combat advantage?

That is defined, actually. It means using an attack power against the target(s) of the power, or a power that damages or hinders (inflicts status effects, also defined) on the targets. "Ability" is not defined as anything. Inconsistent, sometimes outright meaningless, wording is a serious...

Holy Implement Expertise - can't grant combat advantage?

No mechanical meaning, you're well into RAI territory if you try to assign it meaning. Just like "Struck" has no mechanical meaning, yet it unfortunately it is inserted into a key Fighter class feature. Basically I'm saying that stunning yourself from PH is equivalent to the power saying...

Tell me about the essentials rogue

Thieves basically hit as long as they don't roll a 1. They have utility powers, those could be dailies, but don't have to be. Otherwise, they are dead simple. Pick your "Trick" so you always have CA, so your hit/damage are always the same except tossing on Backstab.

    D&D 4E Three Moves to Fix/Change 4E

Not a fan. That idea has issues with several mechanics of 4e, across various builds/classes. Not that getting rid of ability scores is inherently bad, it could be workable, but a good chunk of the game would need to be redone. More of a 5e thing I think. For 4e just fixing the math on scaling...

Holy Implement Expertise - can't grant combat advantage?

Yes. The distinction lies in the fact that feats are not powers or abilities. So "Do feats that have effects based on what happens with a power modify the power in some way, and therefore the effect comes from a power?" RAW has nada either way, but all rulings that are affected by the...

Holy Implement Expertise - can't grant combat advantage?

Stunned, right, not dazed. It isn't a rule, but if a feat has an effect on a condition from a power, then it modifies that power, is the only way of explaining several developer rulings (Mark of Storm works with Polearm Momentum, Staggering Weapon+Mark of Storm, etc). So he used a power that...

Holy Implement Expertise - can't grant combat advantage?

I'd say it applies to dazed... but not the dazed from Pacifist. It is a power or ability that they player used that caused them to grant CA.

    Math fixes; can you clarify?

http://www.enworld.org/forum/4e-discussion/304576-feat-taxes-its-time-week-again.html Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible Should cover it in terms of actual history & math (developer home games give the feats out free, information thrown in gratis). Oh, also...

Somebody Explain Ritual Scrolls to Me

Um. K. The Enchant Magic Item ritual can be used to upgrade a +1 item to a +2 item for the difference in cost between the two. Ditto +2/+3 etc. Regardless of rarity, so long as a higher-level version exists, you can upgrade it for just ritual components equal to value difference. So: Good...

Somebody Explain Ritual Scrolls to Me

Do what LFR characters do: Save the money and use it to upgrade the good items you got at character creation when the time comes that are Uncommon already.

    D&D 4E Three Moves to Fix/Change 4E

Just three? I could use like... ~7. 1.) Fix the economy. Poor magic items removed, more variety for the options people actually want, actually implement the Common/Uncommon/Rare/Artifact system. I'd probably start out by making Inherent Bonuses a mandatory, always-on rule, and redesign from...

    Monster tactics 101?

+11 is standard for Rogues/Thieves at level 2. +5 from Dex (because not starting with 20 Dex if you're a a Dex Primary attack class is a poor decision)+3 Prof (Rapier or Dagger)+1 1/2 level+1 class feature (Rogues with Daggers, Thieves with all Light Blades) is +10. Expertise or a Magic Weapon...

My Newbie Game, commentary and thoughts

Misread. XD Tell her Warlords are Enablers/Force Multipliers. They hand out bonuses that make attacks better, and then enable allies to make more attacks. Or, colloquially, "Barbarians hit things with their axe, Warlords hit thing with their Barbarian." Controllers are generally the most...

    Monster tactics 101?

No, kicks in at the same time it has since AV released (two years now?), and was always automatic if you actually read the Masterwork armor rules. They just clarified it for people who didn't read those rules.

My Newbie Game, commentary and thoughts

Assuming the Ranger is an Archer, she'll stop feeling inadequate in a few levels. Probably the same turn she crits an elite on one out the four attacks she made that turn and it drops.

    How Do You Heal?

They shave off 1-4 rounds (depending on party comp/optimization level) from having more strikers/controllers instead of leaders.
