The Slow Death of Epic Tier

Your definition is interesting, but even at 1:100,000 or 1:1,000,000 since it only takes one epic character to make the archers insta-win by ensuring the engagement happens the scenario is more like > epic creature attacks > local uses a scroll to send a pre-arranged message > epic character...

The Slow Death of Epic Tier

One epic daily, engagement is no longer the Dragon's choice. I made this point. If you assume a mortal population and epic creatures, then among the mortal population there are going to be epic characters. These have Don't Need to Hit effects like prone/dominate/etc and the ability to rapidly...

The Slow Death of Epic Tier

The French notably did not have a strong militia tradition. The English did. Which one got raided by vikings for longer? As long as we are going to make assumptions about these fictional people, let us not insult them by making them French. Bows were what now? O.o English long bows were...

    Unified Tables of Combat Stats

AC Defender: Level+18 AC Other: Level+16 AC NADs Defender: Level+16 Other: Level+14 There you go. This will vary somewhat, Str/Con defenders will have terrible Ref and Will but they usually have some other mechanic (Font of Life, constant THP generation, etc.,) to help deal with it. Worth...

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

And Dagger Rogues out damage Rapier Rogues with "just" +1 to hit. And they still lose out on feat quals if they have to buy an 18 Str pre-racials, so they gained +1 to hit overall, as I pointed out three or four times now.

    Stout and Versatile Weapons

That really is unclear, isn't it? Weapons that have the Stout property are all Double Weapons. Wielding them is like wielding 2 1-handed weapons for the purposes of various feats etc., (the whole TWF feat tree) but it is also like wielding a 2-handed weapon, because of the Stout property.

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

There was a poll on Enworld asking how many melee users got a Superior Weapon Proficiency. Answer: Nearly all of them. From an optimization perspective, you can simply ignore any race that does not get a primary stat boost, a usable secondary stat boost, and a Proficiency+Weapon Focus feat...

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

Str/Con Fighter, aka, Battlerager. Of all races which gets one that supports this build the most, by offering additional THP? Answer: Dwarf. That isn't an opinion. The list is similar for all mentioned builds. Is a flat fact.

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

Yes, it is. The difference is big enough that anyone who is optimizing, and I really need to point that out because of course people who don't care or don't know any better will still play other races (wonder where we could find some of those), will always pick Dwarf. Dwarves had one...

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

...Ugh, Dwarf was one of 3 choices before that was the best. This puts him ahead of the other two choices that used to be competitive. Human isn't even on the list. It isn't imbalanced, I never said that. I said the change was retarded because Dwarves already have so many advantages that...

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

Your argument that Dwarves are not the default choice is that they have a Dwarf only feat that is vastly superior to the feats any other Str/Wis Fighter gets then? Right. So now instead of being -1 on everything but Combat Challenge (which is a lot of attacks for a standard Fighter... Come and...

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

Compared to a human...? Because the next best Fighter races also have a Wis bonus (Barring Dragonborn, who only really used to come equal in Paragon, because of one feat, and only if you built around it). So, yes, -1 to everything. And no, you can't, not without giving up something. That is...

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

-1 to hit on everything because your str was behind. And getting an 18 str before was a retarded decision, it barred you from tons of feat quals.
  15. A

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

It is relevant, because accuracy is a big deal. the -1 to hit was a balancing factor. Now it isn't. That's bad. And all the above options work for Fighters just as well.

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

Not... really. Circlet of Arkhosia+Second Wind as an Immediate Interrupt (/gasp, a Dwarf only feat)+Dwarf Only feat that gives +5 to all saves after SWing, and.. oh, hell, let us say a Nullifying Ring and assume an Epic character). Now any time you are hit with a status effect that deals...

    Half Damage and Sneak Attack

Well, extra damage is always part of the attack. So if you could apply SA on a miss, it'd still be halved. But SA specifically requires a hit, so you can never apply it on a miss.

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

1.) That is hugely relevant, especially in LFR and modules. 2.) If you can't shrug off status effects as a defender, you built your character wrong. Course if you're a human Fighter you also built it wrong, so. 3.) Tell that to Wardens.

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

Turns to Die Calculator still puts Dwarves ahead for having -1 to all NADs compared to humans, sorry. One surge is a ton of HP, incidentally, especially for a Con secondary build.

Race Character Optimisation: Just Choose Dwarf

Then you're making an unoptimal choice for any class that is Str/Con. Really straightforward. Before there were trade-offs between races. Dwarves sole downside for several classes/builds was the lack of a racial bonus to Str. Now there isn't. Also Humans don't get a third At-Will anymore anyway.
