What products do you wish WotC would re-do?

I have their Magical Medieval Society, and really like it. It's got some 3.x/D20 specific elements, though — I'd be interested in seeing a rethought-for-4E version.

How often do you randomly roll treasure?

For my last 3.5E game, I had the intention of making it a kind of kill-the-monsters-take-their-stuff thing, and random treasure fit in great with that. And I kind of dig the arcane tables and the whole process. But for my new 4E game, I'm doing everything carefully by hand — down to making...

Greedy Players and the Lust for Treasure!

It sounds like the players are having a little bit of trouble finding an in-game reason for their characters to act as a real team. So, I think I'd start with an out-of-game discussion about that with the whole group. Identify the problem together (there may be some who see a different problem...

    Dragon: Where to get it?

Also, be aware that you always want the combined version — there's corrections included that don't get put back into the original individual articles.

More Action-Type Points to Reward Role-Playing

wiki points In our new game, I'm instituting "wiki points". You get one for adding something significant (even if small) to the little wiki site I set up for the game — session history, NPC details, a map, whatever. I'm not sure exactly what benefits they should provide, though. ;) I want it...

The gaming group's divorce is finalized

It can work the other way too, though. With our 3.5E game, we had several people who were experts in advanced minutiæ of the rules, and we'd often get distracted by long technical discussions. With our new 4E game, not necessarily because of any virtues of the system (although I do think it's...

D&D 4E How do you run attack rolls in 4e?

I ask my players as an an encounter starts, and then write it down so I don't have to keep asking.

    Figurines of Wondrous Power!

Presumably it's a typo in the stat block. (And hopefully just online, not in the book.) On another note, I'm liking the "fuel with a healing surge" thing. It reinforces the explanation for daily limits on magic items that item based magic really uses some of one's own power.

    Magic and equipment

Right. This is one of the things I was considering banning from my 3.5E game anyway. It falls under the math-spinning-out-of-control category: at mid/high levels (15 or so, let alone way up at 20) characters who spend their resources (ability score enhancements, feats, and magic items) on a...

Spawn Wraith: whose free will, exactly?

I know the possibilities. And sure, as I said, that's gotta be the intention. But it's all kind of weird — from a player perspective, why is the term "free-willed" used to mean "your spirit rises, but you lose free will"? Doesn't that seem sort of opposite? Your one-line reply doesn't really...

    Who Will Get the Axe?

Probably related at least in part to the Gleemax shutdown, yeah?

Treasure & Post 1st Level Creation

I also find the rules a bit problematic currently because it's often hard to find character-appropriate items at the given levels. For some characters, they'll get exactly what they want, but for others, there won't be good matches. Seems much better to just give the appropriate amount of...

Spawn Wraith: whose free will, exactly?

Spawn Wraith Any humanoid killed by a wraith rises as a free-willed wraith at the start of its creator’s next turn, appearing in the space where it died (or in the nearest unoccupied space). Raising the slain creature (using the Raise Dead ritual) does not destroy the spawned wraith...

    "twin strike" question

    Read the "Targets" line. :)

    "twin strike" question

Yes. Read the bottom of page 55 and the start of page 56 in the PH — the Twin Strike power has the Weapon keyword, so weapon enhancement damage is included. And extra damage from feats is included whereever it says it would be in the feat unless the power overrides it.

    3.5 breakdown at high levels?

And let's not forget high-bab characters routinely making four or five attacks per round, each with different modifiers.

    Dragonborn class choices

And for that matter, we have a dragonborn wizard in our group and it's working out just fine.

    Alchemy

Also, wizards can opt to take other powers instead; this increases their versatility.

    4E is unacceptable

So, in hopes of adding something constructive while still whining about how things could have been done differently than they were :): What I wish they had done is made the first set of the core books cover only the heroic tier, but include at least the druid, barbarian, and monk. And then...

    Geography headache

Yeah, the only way it makes sense is if the west and east forks are basically two separate rivers which together flow towards the little river whose name I can't read which then flows into Lake Rhestin. It's a little weird for what then are logically really two different rivers to bear the same...
