D&D 5E (2014) Monsters taking PC classes: I want it in Next.

Not really, more like the killer idea, but implementation didn't quite deliver. The word "balance" (that and the word "broken") in D&D is starting to sound sillier and sillier every day.

D&D 5E (2014) So did they just drop modularity ? This is what has me worried.

The latest magic/casting system article has me worried about too much modularity, as in, generic GURPS style.

    D&D 4E More reflections on 4e and 5e.

Me too, Tabasco on scrambled eggs has a certain panache.

Homogenisation can be great, but I do not generally dig it in D&D, though it suits 4th Ed as 4th Ed is basically the class-less D&D (which can be cool for certain campaigns/play-styles, in fact, I think 4th Ed is perfect for a Wuxia campaign).

    D&D 4E More reflections on 4e and 5e.

For me, personally, I am loving the egg analogy (for many reasons, the rightness being one of them), a big reason is that I am The Egg Man (every style, just love them), coo-coo-coo-choo (someone wanna be the Walrus?), but they make my brother nauseated just looking at them.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

Ogres as an auto-one-hit (minion) is daft to me. 29th level creatures with 1 HP really stretches my suspension of disbelief, well, not stretched, more like ripped in twain and both pieces thrown across the room.

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just not that "Psyched" about Next.

Hence my trepidation with the latest playtest packet, hopefully they stick more with the 1st packet in the next one.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

    1) It's true, if the 10th level wizard is looking down the ogre's greatclub swinging towards him, that's a threat, with potentially serious damage. 2) Ah, but to hit does not scale for monsters by level in 5th Ed.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

    1) No, I didn't, I said "an ogre", no mention of exactly how many, you guys just ran with it, and a 10th level party could be three 10th level wizards all with ACs' under 14. 2) Not defending, just reiterating the facts.

D&D 5E (2014) Monsters taking PC classes: I want it in Next.

I want rules to implement monsters as PCs, no matter how crazy (Savage Species had the right idea, but didn't quite deliver).

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just not that "Psyched" about Next.

A couple of years after DMing 4th Ed (high level 3rd Ed became numbing) I became disillusioned, soon after started perusing all my Basic, 1st (aha), 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and now 5th Ed play-test stuff to see what I/we can come up with.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

Exactly, not sure why what's-his-name glommed onto this "lone 5th level Fighter vs. an Ogre" scenario.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

Yes it is. And, i thought you were (hoped) done.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

Exactly, I was pointing out an Ogre is not be completely useless (can still hit members of the party and do damage without having to roll a 20 or what-have-you) to a 10th level party in 5th Ed, as it is in 3rd and 4th Ed. Even 10 Orcs vs. your 10th level fighter will be annoying in 5th Ed if...

D&D 5E (2014) Things I Have Done So Far For, or With, 5E

Exactly, with that 1st Play-Test Packet (the good one), and my Basic, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Ed goodies, I have enough to go on for many lifetimes.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

    1) In your opinion, my play-tests' have resulted differently. 2) Good, please, quit while you're behind. In case it needs to be said, being hostile to other posters is a no-no. SD, this is the third post in three days that we've had to step in on. Expect a message. ~KM

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

    1) Oh, all sorts, that's what "play-test" is all about. 2) Much like life. 3) "Math"...it speaks for itself.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e: the demystification of monsters?

The 1st one (and that wasn't the loose math I was talking about)?
