    A difficult question

...so...so that's what you have...3rd Ed multi-classing; we all know it became a nightmare, I am in no way advocating front-loladed cherry-picking garbage; anything else?

A DM by any other name

Makes or breaks a game. If you are not a good DM (which entails so many things), give it up. Not everyone's a winner, as my grandmother used to say.

Can someoone explain the "Daily Hate" for me?

Total: the Rogue to the Fighter: "Have you blown your daily yet?" "No, just gonna work through these Encounters."

    A difficult question

    1) Exactly (3rd Ed was the beginning of the silliness). 2) I'm hoping for a cleaned up 1st/2nd Ed, ya know, D&D. 3) Man, did I miss out, sounds grand.

are you more interested in 5e or numenera?

I thought the thread title was about 5th ed vs. a mathematical concept.

    D&D Next Q&A 9 August

I find it best not to assume (people get fired that way); are we talking about a 13th level Rogue doing 13d6 SA damage?

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

True; but that's what makes or breaks this game.

    A difficult question

The AEDU system, I rest my case...a bizarre little Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures game variant (a good one) that Heinsoo & co. concocted that I don't want to be a part of anymore (did it for years....done).

    D&D Next Q&A 9 August

Is that confirmed (i've only seen up to 3rd level characters so far)? So, for negating oncoming damage, do you have to save dice?

Can someoone explain the "Daily Hate" for me?

I've said it before, I think in 4th Ed they should have gone whole-hog: dailies are Encounter, and Encounters are Recharge or what-have-you. Towards the end of DMing 4th Ed I implemented that (fine, no catastrophic fallout).

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

Not back to the past, just not catering to the little pet project of Heinsoo & Co. to make the D&D game into an expanded variant of Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures, which it is, just compare the rules; and in no way does that mean you can't "role-play" in 4th Ed, I DMed it consistently. But yeah...

Why not combine the Fighter and Monk Classes?

I can see the angle of making the Monk a Theme (a series of Feats), though personally (which means nothing), I want it to be a class; also, much of what a Monk is seems a bit of a stretch for some feats: Dodging missile weapons (every time a successful one hits them that they are aware of)...

    A difficult question

Yes, it was, massively so, let's not get silly.

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

    What do you expect?

Can someoone explain the "Daily Hate" for me?

I think for 4th Ed they should have gone all the way and made Daily powers Encounter, and Encounter powers Recharge or something.

    Are demons/devils living creatures?

Thanks, my 3rd Ed (save the PHB) goodies are packed away right now; interesting that in 5th Ed Undead have a Con score.

Simplistic or Complete (and why we can't have both)

I'm digging it so far, comes as across as a cleaned up Basic/1st Ed, which is perfect for me. *said like Ox in Stripes*

AD&D, looking backwards, and personal experiences

I am in a a very similar place as you, I've run the gamut, from super loose 1st Ed, to consulting NASA for 3rd Ed builds; but after DMing 4th Ed for awhile, I suddenly got a hankering to really scour my pre 3rd-Ed goodies (love reading the Basic Moldvay Rulebook and the 1st Ed PHB) to see what I...

AD&D, looking backwards, and personal experiences

My very first character (I haven't had many) was a Half-Elf Assassin, so I was seriously bummed when the 2nd Ed PHB removed the Assassin and Monk (one of my favourite classes of all time), but I soon realised how easy it was to plonk them into 2nd Ed. I've plonked the 1st Ed Monk into 5th Ed...
