    7th sea

anyone played d20 swashbuckling adventures, the revamped 7th sea? i'm running a desperate fugitive/pirate campaign now, and i'm looking for adventure modules. would this be a good place to start pilfering adventure seeds?

    looking for fugitive modules/adventures...

has anyone played 7th sea, or the d20 version Swashbuckling Adventures? i'm interested in checking it out, but i'm afraid it may have too much glory and not enough desperation. does anyone have any experience with the setting or its modules?

    looking for fugitive modules/adventures...

i'm running a d20 game right now where the plot amounts to this: the PCs are fugitives who have hijacked the prison ship that they were being transported on. they're dead broke with no resources, and they're on the lamb. also, the characters had no association with each other until the first...

    experimental magic system: caster check

no spell slots. you can try as much and as often as you want, but a failed casting means a wasted action and wasted material components (and perhaps incurring some nonlethal damage, if i decide to go that way).

    experimental magic system: caster check

no prepared spells as such, or wizard classes for that matter. i'm currently using the simplified "spellcaster" class from UA, but i'm thinking about incorporating school-specific casters (not the ones from UA). so, you could be a 2nd level evoker, 12th level diviner, learning spells from only...

    Vitality for Spells?

hm... *bump* i'd like to hear more input on this. i'm toying with new magic systems, and i like the idea of subdual damage from casting. can anyone elaborate on the true20 or EoM systems? i'm thinking about purchasing one or both of these products, but you can only tell so much from the...

    experimental magic system: caster check

ok, let's clear up some things. i don't use metamagic in my campaigns. in my opinion, magic is "meta" enough as it is. i'm sure that if you wanted to incorporate metamagic into this system, with a little work, you could make it mathematically logical. personally, i'm not interested...

    lethal combat

thanks for the tip, mr. penguin. it's hard to tell from the blotter, but this looks like exactly what i'm looking for. are you familiar with the ultimate game designer's companion from mongoose? it features the grim-n-gritty system, but i don't know in how much detail. if it's a fairly...

    lethal combat

i got tired of having to put my high-level characters up against greater gods to put any fear into them, so i decided to do something extreme: hit points equal to constitution. this system has truly made combat lethal. i've tried to compensate in several ways, since i don't really want to kill...

    experimental magic system: caster check

this is the system i'm using in my game: casters must succeed at a caster level check (1d20+caster level) vs. DC 10+(spell level x 2). cantrips are DC11. in this system, wizards fail to cast their highest level spells about half of their attempts, but spells they've been casting longer have a...
