    Feats & Fighters

The prerequisite for Martial Cross-Training is the Improved Power strike class feature, and the Powerful Strike feat does not grant you that. The same wording applies for the backstab swap feats.

Dragon: The Fighter (Weapon Master) and Feats

The updated weaponmaster (PHB1) fighter and feats from the Class Compendium have been posted: The Fighter (Weapon Master) Feats

CB: "Yes, we have no magical weapons of that kind."

Well, since magic weapons are determined by weapon group, not specific weapon, and tridents are spears, there are plenty of trident options. According to the Compendium, there are 175 magic weapons (that obviously includes all the different levels/plusses) that specifically mention spears, so...

    D&D 4E Class-less 4E?

I think, if you don't worry about balance, that it would work just fine. I might even go as far as let the PC use any ability score for the powers, instead of the one listed (I would probably still keep riders based on specific ability scores).

    Hammer Hunter

Maybe Precision Throw + Melee Training (Dexterity) instead? Then you can put more points into Constitution and Wisdom.

    Skill Challenge feedback

I will second Quickleaf's suggestion that a lot more skills need to be flagged for the skill challenge. And I've never liked saying, "These are the primary skills." Perhaps 6 successes = 2 dockers identified, 7 successes = 3rd docker, 8 successes = Dafton?

Designers looking for mechanics feedback on Optimization Board

Yeah, the CharOp boards are where people have evaluated every feat, every power, and every PP for its utility, efficacy, power, and synergy. I consider myself competent at building characters, but their mastery of the material is impressive. I am glad to see the WotC staff taking advantage of...

Ways to gain extra movement speed?

Multiclass into monk and then take the feat Fluid Motion. +1 feat bonus to speed in the heroic tier, +2 in the paragon tier.

Need to sub some low level monsters with higher level ones

As mentioned before, orcs, ogres, and gnolls would fit well. Bugbears would fit in near the level 8-10 range, maybe slightly on the low side, but pretty easy to bump them up a few levels. If you want to get more exotic, thri-kreen (potentially a previously unknown insectoid race living in the...

Heroes of Shadow Art Gallery is up!

I dig the red hair/pale skin look of the vryloka.

    I have Heroes of Shadows

The generic at-will that binders get is called shadow claws, a cold attack that targets Fort and applies an effect that does damage if the target moves. The gloom pact at-will echoing dirge is a psychic blast that targets 1 or 2 creatures and pushes. The star pact at-will mind shadows is a...

    A little Build Assistance?

If you build a cunning bard, you can focus exclusively on implement attacks, I think, without much trouble and to good effect. I think your proposed build sounds solid. If you can only use the PHB/PHB2 plus that one multiclass feat (Twilight Adept), you honestly do not have to make many...

    D&D 4E 4E/Dragon Age - Help choosing a monster

How about starting with the Silt Horror from the Dark Sun guide -- it is a level 12 solo, and has several types of level 12 minion tentacles that act as independent creatures. Maybe have a couple of main tentacles that are normal monsters (not minions) to screen the broodmother, so she can do...

    How to do Counterspelling?

I would go with some sort of loose definition of "magical effects" and let the DM decide by the "eye test" whether a particular attack fell in that bin. Power sources would be an obvious way to classify things, but they were only applied as keywords to PC powers, and not to monster powers...

Help me build an 11th level ranger (please)

The trickiest thing will be to make sure you have a decent Strength, since most ranger melee powers (with a few exceptions) key off Strength. Alternatively, you can choose the few Dex-based ranger melee powers, or rely on melee basic attacks when fighting with your short swords. In that case...

Polearms Quiz - how'd you do?

16 as well. I am pretty pleased with that score, actually. I thought I was going to ace the quiz, then midway through I remembered that even when I used Unearthed Arcana I was confused by this appendix, and the existence of glaive-guisarmes in general :)

    Dungeon 188 - Baelard's Legacy

None of the encounters in the adventure are set -- instead, each section suggests how to set up and run encounters, using the monsters provided at the end of the adventure. A marked departure from every encounter being set up. Reading it makes the dungeon feel more dynamic. I think at least...
