Greater Wolfwere NPC with Class levels. How do I work out a 'fair' CR?

Hi Everyone, I hope this is the right forum for this. A wee bit of background: I am reintroducing a character into my 3rd Ed campaign - he was a major NPC back when it was based in 2nd Ed Ravenloft. Well, the characters finally escaped that realm (and ruleset) and now, after several years, so...

    Social skills in D&D

I voted the third option, but we use the first option a bit as well. I agree - the System is excellent, but the suggested modifiers to roll and DC's are way out.

Advancing a Brain in a Jar

On a little cart, with itty bitty wheels (though not those trolly ones. It's hard enough to make a brain in a jar menacing as it is, without it bumping into the walls of the dungeon) :p

Skilled?! NO. ... Check your PCs' resumes!

And thank God for that, they was a stupid idea in the first place. Almost as bad as posthibited skills (which were just plain useless).

    Most mispronounced monster names

Not from the monster manual, but the Sidhe inevitably get called the "Side-hee"

    Cheating and D&D

I'm with Morrus and Eric on this one, but I don't think my players cheat much, if at all. Too much pride etc. So, if they do , it's not very often, and as long as I don't know, I'm pretty happy. Anyway, I do the occasional bit of fudging, so why shouldn't they? If it was endemic there might be...

[origins report] I stalked Monte Cook!

So did Crothian have some sort of mini computer with him, so that he could post to Enworld from the Con? I have this image of him browsing the forums from his mobile phone, all at the same time as he was roleplaying, sleeping, eating his breakfast... Luckily, you could probably get away with...

D&D Stats for the Wizard of Oz?

Yes. I should have put more ;) ;) ;) in my post! Ahh, it was more of a joke really. I've don't really believe you can stat out book characters in D&D terms very well. A fun exercise, perhaps, but little more. As for the Wis. She will probably one day have a higher wis, but I applied a...

D&D Stats for the Wizard of Oz?

Well, I haven't seen any stats for them, but I'll take a stab at a few: The Cowardly Lion Hard to say, but it looks like a normal a Lion from the MM, with a few advancement levels thrown in, and the COWARDLY template applied (double duration suffered against Fear effects, Will saves at -2, -4...

What traits would your Ultimate Space Opera setting have?

Jumppoints for FTL travel - a la the Alderson Points in Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's "The Mote in God's Eye" I also enjoy the militaristic milieu of these novels.

Introducing the Deck of Many Things

Would you like me to show you your fate? So I used the deck of many things in my dreamscape game last night - here's how it all came about, and the way I integrated it into the game without it being a mere 'treasure' item. The PC's were walking through a chamber at the heart of the dream...

Introducing the Deck of Many Things

Funny that you should bring this up now. I am about to use it for the very first time tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

    181. Only one person replies to your thread plaintively asking for help for a tricky session you have ahead that night.

Ahh, forget it. I've started... (was help me with dreamscape game)

I took a good look at your dreamscape game, Eric. It was very interesting. Did you think about suing the Producers of The Cell? :p

Ahh, forget it. I've started... (was help me with dreamscape game)

Thanks, Eric! Funnily enough, One of my PC's is called Simon, and he and his brother had a very... unpleasant... relationship with their father, and he has dogged their travels in the dreamrealm as a nightmare already! Interesting. I could even get them to play both sides of their own...

    Beginnings of my own Pantheon

A different approach to creating a pantheon, is to create a family tree of Gods, a la the greek or norse pantheons. Conflicts arise like in any family, but Gods tend to be really full on when it comes to retribution and justice (putting people on rocks and having harpies eat their entrails...

Ahh, forget it. I've started... (was help me with dreamscape game)

And I'm doing fine. It's a good sort of game to run on the fly anyway, and I've come up with some really cool images. Thanks heaps though Eric, for your reply. Mike Hi Everyone, I'm running a session tonight (edit - in about an hour or two) set in the heart of the dream realm, and I'm hoping...

    Insta-Kill Spell Alternatives?

I came up with it as a player, after everyone left me dying on the battlefield (instead of rushing to my aid) because they new I had 6 rounds left. I know that they had a battle to win, but it made me feel like a bit of a commodity, instead of a valued friend on death's door. It should never be...
