Personally, I can't even comprehend calling something that isn't D&D or AD&D "D&D." Maybe "kind of like D&D" (T&T, ArsM, or any of several others) or "a derivative of D&D" (PF and HM at least).

IMO, leaving out stuff is fine. The GSL is, in part, meant to allow the publication of adventures, after all, and not every adventure can include everything in the GSL. [EDIT: Argh. I mean in the SRD. GSL = terms and conditions for using WOTC's property; SRD = property that can be used.]

Still way spoiler-y! In general, the trillith do not have the heroes' best interests in mind. Many actively work against the heroes, and their overarching agenda is not conducive to the, how shall we say, continued existence of the physical world. Any of it.

If you want to make Intimidate particularly punishing, that should be "and negates a success," of course, and the sentence is thus tied to using Intimidate in the first place. If you'd rather go easy on the heroes, delete "and negates a" and treat the sentence as flavor text explaining the -2...
