ZEITGEIST Layout question for ZEITGEIST - print or screen primary?

Spoiler-riffic! Then again, I guess any three pages you chose would have had *some* spoilers on them.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Copyright Issues at Obsidian Portal?

Orange Crate Art: Pullum on Strunk and White Pullum v. Strunk and White on Env ETA: And that's #900 for me. May #1000 be as momentous.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Copyright Issues at Obsidian Portal?

No, the rule does not conflict with any other rules. When "who/whom" isn't the object of the preposition, which to use is determined by different criteria. In the original sentence which started this whole digression, it's "Hypocrisy by whom, precisely?" because in that sentence "whom" is the...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Copyright Issues at Obsidian Portal?

Though it sounds strange to many modern English speakers, it is correct, because "am" is a form of the verb "to be," a linking verb (not a preposition). "It is I," "the culprit was she," and so forth are other examples of the rule.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Copyright Issues at Obsidian Portal?

Ugh. No, please, no grammar debates. [Because I can't resist. Technically, "by whom" is always correct and "by who" is never correct. When "who/whom" is the object of a preposition, it's always "whom," not "who" (just as it's always "him," not "he").]

A couple of notes: The only matter relevant to copyrights that's in the US Constitution is in Article I, Section 8: the bit where the US Congress is granted the power "[t]o promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive...

    What Means "Already pinged"?

When posting a reply to a thread, I got the attached message. I assume this means that a post somewhere in the thread (presumably already deleted) was spam?

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Copyright Issues at Obsidian Portal?

Whether or not the infringement is of consequence only matters when you're measuring damages. No, this argument doesn't work; the conclusion doesn't follow logically from the premise. Publishers using the OGL must be very mindful of copyright, whether it involves using other people's...

Real men don't cry, but 17th level barbarians do!

Apart from the obvious: - "He's my character, not yours" - "The GM is down with it, why not roll with it" - "You're getting static all up in my moment" - "Next time you roll a barbarian, you can not-cry all you like" - "This is a 'role-playing' game, remember" - "Illiteracy has exactly nothing...

Shelter from the Storm: How to run war council?

As I said in a (much) earlier thread along these lines, if you do hand out parts for the players, make sure to reserve Giorgio for yourself as DM. He's too much fun.

Can a Lawful Good character be flexible and fun to play?

To elaborate, in the (default) D&D/PF world, alignment is a real force, like, say, gravity. Good, Evil, Law, and Chaos exist, they have champions, you can root for your favorite "team," you can use a magic "Geiger counter" to determine how much of a given force is in the area, etc. In D&D, Evil...

Can a Lawful Good character be flexible and fun to play?

In any event, alignment is for D&D characters, not for real people.

WotC has begun deleting old website articles (3.x and previous...)

The argument goes that if the copyright holder is not the one distributing the copyrighted material, and the copyright holder has not given permission for anyone else to distribute it, then it is a violation of the copyright to distribute it. Cost/price is not a factor.

Can a Lawful Good character be flexible and fun to play?

Lawful Good characters live, laugh, love, and make merry just like everybody else. They sorrow, they rage, they give up, they persevere, and they appreciate a good joke, even if it's played on them. Or they don't. The point is alignment doesn't have much to do with personality. Alignment...
