EN World New GMs, players, read the first post in this thread! (updated 5/21)

Pathfinder Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition played on roll20.net which is a virtual tabletop. Link to Recruitment thread at Paizo.com Recruitment will end when I find a player that I think will show up consistently. I will modify this post to show that the recruiting is over when it ends.

    Rise of the Runelords VTT

I am running Rise of the Runelords on roll20.net. They are relatively new so they are working a few bugs out with audio and video, but we don't use video so that is not an issue. I do post on the pathfinder forum for the purpose of handing out information. We are at level 2 currently and...

Big changes a'coming! Merging the D&D forums

When WoTC had the player and GM advice section supporting 3.x and 4th edition people would put the title of the game in question in the subject name. As an example: "PF--Do I have to spend 2 skill points to get one rank for a nonclass skill?" or "4th ed--If I have a fighter can I use...

    Pathfinder 1E Duelists and CMD

It is added to CMD. Any bonus that adds to AC is added to CMD except for armor, shield, and natural armor bonuses. SKR also said, within the last 24 hours, that the ability is badly written, and that it works independently of the dex bonus. In short it is not a bonus to your dex bonus, despite...

Pathfinder 1E No response on paizo.com ...help

That is what I meant. The issue now is that it becomes mandatory, and that takes choice out of the hands of the player. I would say appraisal can be for non-magical items. If the game has enough items such as jewels and art then appraisal can still be valuable, but not a must have skill.

Pathfinder 1E No response on paizo.com ...help

If you don't use appraise not many people will miss it. If you do use it, then it should make sure the character sells the item for the correct price. A bad appraisal could lead to the character losing money. That would make it worth taking.

    subscription

Just to be clear I get one pdf starting with book 2 every month until I get the entire AP(WotBS) assuming I don't cancel the subscription. I am asking because it does not say that specifically.

    Aware & Unaware?

If I am talking to people that are armed, and we are not friends that have even the slightest reason to kill me then my guard would be up. If the players want to pretend to be friendly they should at least roll a bluff check. Being the first to say "I attack" does not constitute a surprise round.

Should I punish my players with a high CR encounter

They can have the wrong information. As an example if an NPC says he was woman attack someone, but it was a man disguised as a woman. With all that aside I am glad the session went well for you. :)

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Edition Reprints

New Poll is up at WoTC asking about the reprint of 3.5 books. The new poll asking about reprinting 3.5 books. There is a space for comments at the end.

Should I punish my players with a high CR encounter

If they failed it is not a punishment, but a result of failure. With that said I would still not use a CR 12 monster. If you told them in-game then it can be made to look as though the NPC was incorrect. If you told them out of game then just tell them you used the wrong name. :)

Changing The Game By Limiting Class Choice

I would do it for one campaign, but not as a permanent rule. If the GM was not skilled enough to handle a high level game with at least all the core classes I would prefer for the GM to end the game at a lower level.

    Unarmored Dex Fighters

Unearthed Arcana had bonuses you could use in place of wearing armor. It basically replaced full plate for classes that had access to it, and it counted for touch AC, and regular AC.

    Splitting up the party...best ways?

Players are good at seeing through manipulation, and having split groups means balancing game time. I would probably drop the idea unless it is story essential and even then I would try to keep it short.

    Archeologist issue

It seems to be a typo. Since traits are optional rules it would not be fair to force you to depend on traits. If you are the GM I would let them have it.

    Character Choices for a Newbie

In our world I would say no, but in a fantasyland I don't think it has the same affect.

    Most Veristal char

Could be the bard, inquisitor, druid also. Are you trying to play in a group or run a PC in a game in which you are the only player.
  19. C

    Help me choose a class.

What specifically do you want to do? I can say inquisitor, or ranger seems like a good fit for now. They both get 6 skill ranks per level, and can be good in combat. As for classes with "pets" like summoners, druid, and rangers I would suggest always being ready, and having their stats ready...

    Synthetist is Shameful.

The posted synthesis build just had its number ran according to the DPR forumla. It was beaten by the barbarian, paladin, ranger, alchemist, and druid. Here is a link.
