    Fleshshiver (PGtF) + Chain spell (T&B) = urrrgh ?

Well, first of all, Destruction is [Death] magic, so quite many things are immune to it and Deathward-spell is easy to have at those levels. It is much harder to get a spell that prevents non-mindaffecting stun. Secondly, there are a lot of insta-death spells in D&D. Destruction is one of them...

    Fleshshiver (PGtF) + Chain spell (T&B) = urrrgh ?

Uh, yeah. Everyone in the area is stunned for 1d4 rounds and deafened for twice as long, even if the save succeeded. If the save failed, they get an additional 4d6 damage :). The area is cone. Definitely very overpowered (imho) also. Of course, the bards do not usually concentrate so much on...

    Fleshshiver (PGtF) + Chain spell (T&B) = urrrgh ?

Fleshshiver Necromancy Sor/Wiz 5 Range: Close SavingThrow: Fort partial, see text. SR: Yes This spell affects the target's skeleton, snapping and twisting bones. The target is automatically stunned for 1 round (no saving throw). In the following round, it must make a Fortitude save or take 1d6...

    Fleshshiver (PGtF) + Chain spell (T&B) = urrrgh ?

Hello. What do you think of this combo: Fleshshiver (from Players guide to faerun), 5th level spell. + Chain spell metamagic feat (from Tome & Blood). Does anyone think it is bit overpowered to be able to stun an amount of targets up to Caster Level with one 8th lvl spell for 1 round...

    Regarding Reach...

Not sure as I don't have either book here with me. However, I think that Draconomicon clears up the opponent movement issue. I think the S&F version was written in a belief that one could get any number of AoO:s from the movement of one opponent. As this is not the case, the S&F version is bit...

Archmage/Heirophant Touch->30' range ability + Chain spell metamagic?

Ok, thanks for the clear-up. I probably will use that and say that Arcane Reach and Chain Spell just dont work together :). Easier for everyone and that sorcerer still has some use for his 7-9 slots/lvl... :]

Archmage/Heirophant Touch->30' range ability + Chain spell metamagic?

Hello. What do you think, does the archmage / hierophant ability that changes touch spells to 30' range, work with Chain spell metamagic (Tome&Blood)? If it does, then it would open such spells for chaining as Energy Immunity (T&B), Greater Invisibility, Fly, Displacement, Resist Energy and a...

    Starmantle cloak...

Some (I would say many) BoED spells and items are underpriced, overpowered and/or too low level (for spells). Lots of large radius area spells that blind/nauseate/xxxx all evil creatures. Same spells also deal 1rnd/level damage to the same area. And the save only helps for the...

Hierophant - worth losing spell progression?

I wouldn't think it impossible for the DM to change Hierophant to similar system that Archmage uses. Ie, lose slots for every ability, but keep getting new spell casting levels. Would there be some bad balance issues that I don't see?

    Going Archmage

Yes, taking Arcane fire will remove permanently one 9th level slot from the caster. This is still no big deal for sorcerer, as he will have 5 slots left at 20th level, before counting bonus spells from high stat. For wizard, it is bit tougher decision, but still worth it IMHO, as he will gain...

    Going Archmage

Arcane fire is the best ability of the Archmage. I DM for 5 players of character level 19-20 and the arcane fire is definitely been excellent for the main caster (Feyri sorcerer). (Note: I did not find any reason why sorcerer could not use 1-9th lvl spell slots for powering the Arcane fire...

Why is it 9th level? Anyone used it much?

Doesn't the Foresight also act as 'common sense' or , well, spider sense of the user. Ie, the caster walks down a corridor, and the Foresight always notifies him if he is about to step on a trap, or if there is a monster waiting or if the roof is loose and might accidentally drop down? The...

Cost for an item of permanent enlarge?

Bit OT, but: IMC, a half-dragon wanted to go from medium to large. Permanently. I consulted the ritual chapter in Savage Species and came to following conclusion (IIRC): 2300 xp, and around 67000 gp, including the caster payment + the ritual stuff. That gave him the exact benefits of the...

Maximized Dispel Magic!?!? (In a New Way)

Or just have rod/xxx of metamagic - Maximize. No level cost at all.

Seriously. Why *do* Clerics get to wear armour?

There is one already. It is called a Healer from Miniatures Handbook. I like that class concept and it does get benefits during its level progression.

    Wildshape, Polymorph and Multiple Attacks...

This is IMC IMC IMC (Ie, im not sure if this correct, but I use it): The amount of attacks you have in your normal form is the maximum number of attacks you can do in any other form. Ie, if you have bab 16+ and you change to form with natural weapons, you get those 4 attacks with any of the...
