D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

Eberron and Forgotten Realms players books don’t strike me as weird. In fact they seem pretty base line and a good place to start. Yet I would say there is plenty of room to develop there. Honestly our multiple groups have found 2024 to be a straight upgrade on 2014. I get why casual players...

Trying out WFRP 4e - Ubersreik Days and Nights [+]

Your landing pages look amazing and sounds brilliant. I’m trying to link in the session recap into it to make the most of time.

Trying out WFRP 4e - Ubersreik Days and Nights [+]

So at the end of the session we go round each player one at a time and they say if they have done something or behaved in a way that fits their motivation and if they have they get 50 XP. They also get to say something they have learned about the world or developed something non-combat based in...

What Is Your Go-To Pick-Up TTRPG?

No surprises here, I would go with WFRP 4e. For a single 4 hour session I would run one of the classics… The Pig, the Witch and her Lover Night of Blood The Oldenhaller Contract. If Looks Could Kill.

Thanks. Do you mean, does it link to Journals in Foundry? Not yet but that is a good idea.

A few things I really like about WFRP

That makes sense. In WFRP 4e the virtuous circle speeds things up. The reality of combat is that nothing is a given or inevitable because of the random elements of the game. There is a chance that goblin can split your head open like a ripe melon and therefore you can never take anything for...

A few things I really like about WFRP

Yeah it’s one of my favourite things about the system. It’s so liberating when it comes to adventure design and scenario building. So it’s probably best to consider Advantage in WFRP 4e as ‘momentum’, or the ebb and flow of battle. One of the big criticisms of 1st and 2nd edition is that...

Trying out WFRP 4e - Ubersreik Days and Nights [+]

Anti-Jungfrued activists no less. Sigismund Jungfreud was the previous Duke of Ubersreik. He beat a hasty retreat to his very secure holdings in the mountains with his family and closest supporters when the Emperor’s Army advanced on the city. Quite a few folks are pretty upset with this and...

A few things I really like about WFRP

We're part way through book 5 of Enemy Within - Empire in Ruins - and we're still loving it. Its taken 3 1/2 years as we play for 2 hours once a fortnight but I'm amazed how quickly the time has gone. Also amazed that I have the same players and same characters still though I must admit it got...

Trying out WFRP 4e - Ubersreik Days and Nights [+]

First session went really well. I thought I would share the session summary with anyone who is interested. This does include a few spoilers for 'Making the Rounds' the adventure in the WFRP 4e Starter Set. There is one space left if anyone is free every other Tuesday at 8pm BST.

    Foundry 2024 D&D Token Rings… Help!

I notice! I’m pretty sure they use masking to make the tokens rather than cropping that’s why some elements are over ring and some neatly under ring. I’ll reach out to Foundry direct I think.

    Foundry 2024 D&D Token Rings… Help!

It’s so odd. You would think that the ring would be accessible somewhere in the assets if it is automatically applying it. That approach works because the mouse is a whole image. But if your picture is a torso for instance with a squared off bottom edge it’s going to look really weird overlapping.

    Foundry 2024 D&D Token Rings… Help!

Im pretty sure it doesn’t match. I’ve used Tokenstamp for a long time, though I do use tokenizer now instead. Neither has the official ring as far as I can see.

    Foundry 2024 D&D Token Rings… Help!

Hey folks. A question for the Foundry buffs out there. It might be my OCD but I really want custom tokens I create to match the token rings in the new 2024 monster manual and 2024 Players Handbook. Problem is I can’t find the ring anywhere. My google-fu is very weak on this occasion. What’s...

Warhammer: The Old World RPG Offers A New Take On The Empire

The best way to learn about the setting is to read the novels. In this order. D&D General What do you say when someone is thinking of quitting your game?

it is a Huuuuuuge commitment to game 3/4 sundays that can affect relationships, other hobbies, life balance etc. I really wouldn’t take it personally. I’m amazed you’ve managed to sustain for so long, you must be a great DM to keep that level of interest. What a lovely message too! If someone...

Did They stay or did They go, now?

Of the 6 brand new players to RPGs I inducted and played with over the pandemic four have stayed and still play with me 5 years later. Can’t speak for anyone else but that is my anecdotal experience.

Warhammer: The Old World RPG Offers A New Take On The Empire

I like the way that movement and range works. It was a system borrowed from Imperium Maledictum. The scene is split into zones so a combat in might have four zones - the tap room floor, behind the bar, the balcony and the kitchen. Weapon ranges are sorted by zones, so is movement. If you’re in...

Trying out WFRP 4e - Ubersreik Days and Nights [+]

So interestingly this has filled up now to 5 players which is great. But I was surprised how many folks from over the pond have shown interest. Starting at 8pm BST was always trying to cater to both the America’s and Eastern Europe and probably risking totally satisfying neither so if folks...
