D&D 5E (2014) What is your go to Concentration spell?

So the question isn’t ’what Is the best Concentration spell?’ It’s about what you usually cast. In combat? It’s going to depend on level and class. But what do you find yourself going back to time and time again. For me, I find Haste and at higher levels Bigby’s Hand. Haste because it is such...

D&D 5E (2014) What is the Deal with the Twilight Cleric?

I also like the fact that it didn’t distinguish colour so you couldn’t use it to read.

    Pathfinder Teases New Runelords Content

We’ve got the answer then. A new three part AP coming out in September or October I think called Revenge of the Runelords. Seemed interesting enough.

D&D 5E (2014) What is the Deal with the Twilight Cleric?

Like earlier editions Darkvision shouldn’t work if you’re illuminated by any light.

    D&D 5E (2014) Am I missing something on 2014 rogue?

They only do less damage once multiple attacks come online. At the levels that most people play at Rogues deal very well damage wise. They also get preservation techniques like bonus action hide or disengage.

IS Your GM Out To Get You (Serious)

In limited circumstances I think a DM vs players approach can work when. All players are good sports and don’t try to break the game They are running a strong well designed module. The module is challenging Everyone knows the game reasonably well and can be competent. I think something like...

    Pathfinder Teases New Runelords Content

Yes, not because the GM has to fix it but because 5e is very forgiving when it comes difficulty in comparison to Pathfinder.

    Pathfinder Teases New Runelords Content

I once ran a conversion of all three chapters into one Runelords based mega campaign set in Eberron. It was as great fun. We completed four books of the Rise of the Runelords, two books of Shattered Star and one book of Return of the Runelords. The PCs reached level 14 and I think fatigue took...

    Wheel of Time S3

5th episode out. A hard act to follow 4 but some interesting things happen. I like that Elaida is shown to be more the nasty piece of work she is. Love her story arc so much as a villain. They went with the polygamy thing which was unexpected, I thought that they’d chose another path. I’ve just...

D&D 5E (2014) What is the Deal with the Twilight Cleric?

Darkvision doesn’t defeat stealth or invisibility if you want the Vampire to hide in the shadows of a room you of course can. In most situations, Darkvision is pretty pointless when some players have it and others don’t because the others have to carry light and the Darkvision becomes redundant...

D&D 5E (2014) What is the Deal with the Twilight Cleric?

I DM’d Age of Worms for levels 1-20 over about 2 years. We had a Twilight Cleric, a Paladin, A Transmuter and a Rogue. Some things we experienced. It was good but not game breaking The action to activate meant it wasn’t always used and if it did it took up a round Temp hp sources were...

What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

Three questions… Is it fun for me to read? Does it work either adjacent to or parallel to something else I’d like to run (system or theme)? Is it well made - Art, maps, online module support etc.? If the answer is yes to one of the first two categories then I would be sorely tempted to buy...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

So wait… is it that they have released any products suitable for fans of BG3 or is that you just don’t like the products For the records. Storm Kings Thunder has tons of lore. So does Dragon Heist. They all have more lore than was ever in a 3e adventure.

    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

How do you know the ones that want a TTRPG product aren’t buying it? Honestly if someone asks that question then they have Baldurs Gate Descent, Phandelver, Dragonheist, Storm Kings Thunder, Sword Coast Adventurers Guide and Princes of the Apocalypse all to float their boat.

    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

It makes no sense to release a Forgotten Realms Campaign setting before the 2024 update. It’s one of the first things they are releasing with the 2024 rules. I don’t really see how you can expect anything different. You are the first person I’ve seen say that there isn’t enough Forgotten Realms...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

I certainly didn’t get that impression with Planescape? It seemed pretty darn faithful. There were even Easter eggs related to PS Torment, that only true fans would know about. I can’t speak for Ravenloft or the others. Though I read them and they seemed fine to a newcomer. I wasn’t a big...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

BG3 had BG Descent into Avernus released alongside the early development and the Illithid based Phandelver expansion shortly after full release. It’s not accurate to say there were no accompanying products.

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

Honestly it’s a pretty crappy set of adventures. I badly wanted to love this AP because I love aboleth but I couldn’t even bring myself to run it. I wouldn’t be too harsh on the DM.

    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

I would say for the most part very good. I read most of these books and used at least half. The edition update is excellent and a better game than the 2014 version. Very excited to see how the books at the latter half of this year turn out. Highlights for me are Planescape, Keys from the Golden...
