D&D 5E (2024) Paladins can Smite on Ranged attacks (with thrown melee weapons) now!

It ups the power quite a bit, especially if you play with max Charisma and use the controlling aspects of Wrathful Smite. Even in melee only, WS was already arguably the most powerful offensive 1st level spell, the main downside to it was you needed to use a reach weapon or push weapon or take...

Dungeons & Dragons Comments On Possibility of Future Movie Projects

What I really liked about the first D&D movie is that it seemed to be like things would happen in a real game, instead of trying to be tell the story of the adventure. I thought it was awesome.

D&D General Drow as in Cow or Drow as in Snow: Where did the Dark Elves Come From?

Depends on my mood. Sometimes it is cow sometimes it is snow.

D&D 5E (2024) Paladins can Smite on Ranged attacks (with thrown melee weapons) now!

I don't read it that way, I don't think most people do either. Also the reverse of this is why you have disadvantage when you throw a melee weapon with an enemy within 5 feet when you have sharpshooter, the reason is that throwing a melee weapon does not make it a Ranged weapon. Thrown on a...

D&D 5E (2024) Youre All Wrong. Its Not A Martial vs Caster Situation

Primary caster is better than just caster, if that is what you are talking about. But while that logic might work for 17th level characters, 1st level Rangers and Paladins have 1st level spells just like the full casters. On top of that, 1st level Rangers can actually cast more spells per day...

D&D 5E (2024) Paladins can Smite on Ranged attacks (with thrown melee weapons) now!

You don't have to center it on thrown weapons, but toss a dagger or javelin and Wrathful smite it to keep an enemy at distance until they can save while you concentrate on another enemy, or use it to smite on that pesky flying dragon. The main thing against doing a thrown weapon centric build...

Dragonlance "You walk down the road, party is now level 2."

SODQ was the fastest campaign I have ever played. If I remember correctly we got to level 4 in the first session.

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

Yeah, my 4E experience is one big reason why I think balance hurts the game and is far less fun overall. Despite many, many people saying they want class balance, I have not seen any actual evidence it leads to a more fun game.

D&D 5E (2024) Paladins can Smite on Ranged attacks (with thrown melee weapons) now!

One thing I did not catch is the wording on Divine Smite and Wrathful Smite allows for smiting on a Ranged Attack. Bonus Action, which you take immediately after hitting a creature with a Melee weapon or an Unarmed Strike One of my players pointed this out. Since it is melee "weapon" and...

D&D 5E (2024) Aasimar Celestial Revelation - Necrotic Shroud - one time only or every turn?

You also get the proficiency bonus damage boost every turn.

D&D 5E (2024) Youre All Wrong. Its Not A Martial vs Caster Situation

I would say that you should call that martial vs non-martial, or qualify it as full caster. Rangers and Paladins are casters by any definition .... they have spells and it is a core part of their identity and class abilities. Aside from spellcasting, Paladins have two more specific class...

D&D 5E (2024) Youre All Wrong. Its Not A Martial vs Caster Situation

I don't have an ideological issue. I am just stating facts. It is not "caster rather than a martial". A caster is someone who casts spells. That is a pretty simple and unassailable concept. A martial is a bit more esoteric and open to interpretation. I would say someone who relies on...

D&D 5E (2024) Youre All Wrong. Its Not A Martial vs Caster Situation

To be clear I said Paladin was the highest damaging caster at the largest number of levels from 1-20. Take all the other 2024 casters (Ranger, Wizard, Cleric, Druid, Warlock, Bard, Sorcerer) and go through each one of them for every level starting with level 1 and ending with level 20 and I...

D&D 5E (2024) Youre All Wrong. Its Not A Martial vs Caster Situation

I think someone who casts spells is a caster. I also think across levels 1-20, a Paladin is the highest damage caster at the largest numbers of levels, despite also being a martial.

D&D 5E (2024) Youre All Wrong. Its Not A Martial vs Caster Situation

In all these discussions, one thing I find notable is that I see a lot of martials in play, but I see very few non-casters. Even the Fighters and Rogues are usually sporting some spells from something, maybe 1 in 10 PCs is actually a non-caster.

D&D 5E (2024) Jump or Find Familiar on my Dark Sun Scout Rogue/Drunken Monk

So I am playing a human Scout Rogue/Monk in a new game based on Dark Sun. We are starting at level 3 (Scout 3) and will be going to level 13 (Scout 5/Monk 8). There is a lot of homebrew in the game but those two classes and subclasses are RAW (using 2024 rules and classes with 2014...

D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Class Rankings (from nat1gaming.com) for ppl who believe that stuff.

It is not as much, but I think it is incorrect to say it is not close, especially at high levels. Without feats a 10th level Bladesinger in bladesong using Green Flame Blade is looking at 3d8+10 (23.5) to one target and 1d8+5 (9.5) to another, so nomimally 33 damage A Raging Zealot 10th levle...

D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Class Rankings (from nat1gaming.com) for ppl who believe that stuff.

It is in the 2024 UA and is different than the PC you describe, biggest differences being no armor, intelligence instead of Strength/Dex on attacks, Bladesong uses tied to intelligence, not proficiency bonus, and a bonus action attack.
