    Yes. Initiative is huge. My claim that the Fighters probably still win without initiative wasn’t diminishing the general importance of initiative. It was noting just how far in the lead they were in this scenario.

    Rush Distance? My understanding was that all the champions were Bow users. What wall spell are you proposing the caster uses?

    Yea. If the casters had some decent defensive items and the martials didn’t have too OP of weapons that may also have changed things.

    Also of importance is it doesn't appear the casters had any prep rounds. There's lots of spells that could have been precast that could have greatly improved their chances. I may also have missed details on magic items.

    You may can. I’ve not really explored it. But I’m more talking design and homebrew/3pp and how those things still have turn length and aoe issues making for bad gameplay.

    Just so long as the army starts at lower level (1 skeleton/zombie at the least by level 3 at the latest). and increases as I increase in level.

    I think if there is a necromancer they should be able to control 10ish minions. Thus, I don’t really think there should be a necromancer due to gameplay issues associated with that. But if you want to design one, that’s what I require.

    Well they definitely made it thematic and not OP. Seems possibly a bit weak and still has the turns / aoe issues. I don’t view it as a solution to the problem presented. But it is interesting and fun!

    That’s easy, they want to control 10 skeletons a turn entailing everything said 10 skeletons might do. Thus the intractable problem. You aren’t giving them what they want. You are demanding they give up on getting what they want in the name of gameplay.

    Problem: Necromancer fans want many permanent minions but many permanent minions makes for poor ttrpg gameplay for many reasons. Slow turns and aoe being the most notable. There is no solution here. You either give Necromancer fans what they want or you keep the gameplay good.

    I trust fully that you are recounting what you heard accurately. I’ve also seen many people do similar with the infamous McDonald’s hot coffee case, but that was a lot more nuanced than the average Joe realizes. That McDonald’s way overheated the coffee beyond mcdonalds own recommendations...
