D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

Only thing I don't like from DMs are arbitrary rules changes as you go along in effect nerfing classes. I don't care if the campaign pitch includes rules changes up front. I has 1 DM who did that campaign fell apart no surprise. Inherited some players who had DM nerfing rogues on the spot...

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Weapon masteries help a bit it's mostly revised class features. 2014 there were 4 classes I would play 1-20. I think 5.5 raises that to 8 or 9. 2014 I would look more at 1-10 but you get the idea.

D&D General Would You Play High Level (12-15);Wiith Pre Generated Characters? Mostly 5.0/5.5 but theoretically any edition.

DM pitches a game. Level 12-15 but they're using pregenerated characters. DM has a clue and has equipped them reasonably well (2 very rare, two rares, several uncommons potentially 1 legendary each. Items make sense for the build but they're not power combo builds. Eg a wizard might have a staff...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

General you. Everyone's got different tastes. Rules won't cover that if DM and player desires are different. It's a life experience thing more than games. Any hobby, social event hell even dating. In all cases more picky you are harder it's going to be for you. I value group cohesion and...

D&D General Ranger as Nature Assassin?

Not a fan. I woukd skip the tool kit part. BG3 swarmkeeper gets a bonus damage option (piercing, lightning or something else) for free no mark required. Most of the bonus damage on 5.5 are a dice. How big depends on how easy it is to trigger. I wppukd just do that. Marks probably easy...

D&D 5E (2024) Elemental Adept is a Bad Feat. Elemental Damage Vs Radiance Etc

They did cover that to sone extent. Radiant espicially. Vulnerability is super rare and extra effects like vs trolls are even more rare. Blessed crossbow I think is a unique effect. One reason I do like Dragon Sorcerer. Come across sonething vulnerable or + effect like fire/acid vs...

D&D General grodog's Top 10 Favorite Greyhawk Adventures

Well my favorite of all time is There is N Honor. Savage Tide pt 1. I don't have nostalgia for 80s stuff. I started in thec90s. I ca look at them and see how they would be fun in 1985 vs 1995 or whatever at least.

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Level 3 and 4 change thins a lot Leve 4 might be new sweet spot. ECOM3 seems to be only one who's gone to high level. I've done 12 stress test limited play and one groups just hit level 9.

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

Dragonborn is niche. How many people actually used Fizbans? I own it never had a player ask to use it. You're allowed but it came out late and got power crept out. As I said it's technically compatible on the class side. Feats and spelks not so much. Races are mostly decent as old ones get...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

You don't come here to learn about D&D but to pontificate and lecture. Go elsewhere for actual D&D content lol. Every DMs different. Always has been always well be. If you have very specific tastes you might struggle finding a compatible one. It's badwrongfun to not cater to them apparently...

Resting is always DM dependent. Hit them camping or have enemies with dispel magic.

D&D General grodog's Top 10 Favorite Greyhawk Adventures

Mine are probably T1 and various Paizo ones from the APs in Dungeon. The older adventures haven't aged well. Run some older ones recently. Ymmv of course. Saltmarsh count as Greyhawk?

D&D 5E (2024) Elemental Adept is a Bad Feat. Elemental Damage Vs Radiance Etc

Interesting Video. I'll paraphrase it below as I don't expect you to watch it. They go through the various elemental types. Essentially nothing has changed from 5.0. Poisons still out right bad to the extent it's a trap. On paper force is the best. Downside is few force spells and they tend...

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Well I don't think a blaster can do it. My next theory craft build at the table will be a Wchain pact warlock using summon undead/aberration and go from there. As previously mentioned I had awful luck in CoS using summons. Ate my concentration slot and kept having it broken even with war...

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

It's not consistent though. It can happen occasionally. And fireballs kinda mediocre. On paper you might get a really good one off dealing 180 damage or whatever but the martial doing say half tgat on a single target killing it is better. Death is still the best debuff. 5E to has many HP...

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Well they can't do it before level 13 or so ans that's iffy. Exception would be very favorable fireball bait encounters.

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

I've had fairly poor luck with summons due to concentration mechanic. I'll be playing soon tempted to try a Warlock summoner.
