Oh, jeez, that's an existential threat to them...

Not duplicitous, but a little bit meglomanical.

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

I wouldn't count on it. Those are core parts of D&D's identity, stable for over 50 years now. Hasbro will never touch that.

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

Certainly wise to never underestimate the human capacity to make mistakes, but I think that the success of the 2024 rules may have given "stable D&D" the sort of "escape velocity" needed to get away from the gravity of potential major rule revisions.

In terms of sheer possible outcomes in the physical world? Yup, sure, possible. Just seems unlikely, and every product thst gets added to Beyond (now third party optiona added frequently!) and sells well adds just a bit more difficulty to the business case for radical change for change sake.

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

Right, radical mechanical changes are relative: I expect 2024 will prove more radical in changing the actual rules than future versions of the game. Aesthetic and content changes, with mild adjustments over time.

    Wheel of Time S3

I've re-read the books, some multiple times, and I still find new things in them.

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

Yeah, I wouldn't even expect anything as mechanically radical as 2024 again. Look at how many publishers still get mileage out of polishing Basic D&D after 40 years, or Chaosium and Call of Cthulu.

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

Yeah, I distinctly remember the Big Three discussing their 5 year plan early on, and...they followed through. Them seemed to come up with a new one thwt culminated I'm the new core books.

    Wheel of Time S3

That ending is such a doozy that Robert Jordan wrote an entire epic length novel processing it! First, I would like tattacker the chance to commend the reference work that Jordan's widow and personal assistants put together after the whole series was done, it is excellent as a reference tool...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

Dragon Jeist has a mixed reception...but last I checked, ot was one of the best selling campaign books. There are other examples, like Witchlight or Strixhaven, that have a smaller ambit of Levels covered.

D&D General Former WotC Employee Greg Bilsland Returning to D&D?

The Beyond platform, full of a decade of first and third party compatible material, seems more than sufficient to dampen the desire for change.

No, it is just...jarring and unnatural sounding.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Unveils Dragon Delves' Eclectic Art Styles

But turning the color into a noun and putting it after "dragon" is a cure much worse than the illness, as even apparent violations of adjective preference are deeply jarring in English.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Unveils Dragon Delves' Eclectic Art Styles

Nooooo...no. Following a noun with an adjective (even if it is "Noun-ified") is a violation of the word order in English. Adjective order is actually one of the weirdly strict rules in English (of the ten categories of adjective, color comes in at number 7, for instance.
