Jess Lanzillo Departs Wizards of the Coast

Well, sure, anecdotes are anecdotal. 5E was already so good that improving it is fairly incremental, yes, so the excitement is around things like the logical organization of the DMG (massive, massive improvement) which isn't necessarily "sexy". The real test is commercial success and adoption...

D&D General Arcane Subclasses UA Survey is up

The Wizard updates are a pretty decent iteration on the 2014 counterparts. The Arcane Archer seems a good Elf-ish Fighter that is less spell-ish than the Eldritch Knight. Other than that, no super strong feelings.

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Forge of the Artificer

Yeah, those 5 are confirmed. We already have playable Govlinoids in Monsters of the Multiverse, at least, though I wouldn't be surprised of they get revisited sooner rather than later.

Jess Lanzillo Departs Wizards of the Coast

The reception has overall been quite positive...?

Jess Lanzillo Departs Wizards of the Coast

Extremely doubtful: if 4E didn't do that, nothing recent will.

Jess Lanzillo Departs Wizards of the Coast

Not necessarily: yellow flag, maybe. Lanzillo's predecessor left because she got a higher job title at Funko Pop, and she took the D&D Executive Producer with her. That was about them pursuing their careers. None of this is new for WotC.

Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

The Dragons got some of the biggest tweaks in the new MM, so should be living up to their CR more often at least.

Jess Lanzillo Departs Wizards of the Coast

Honestly, Occam's Razo for Perkins and Crawford is that they had maxed out what they could get from retiring at Hasbro and wanted to change things up (Perkins has openly been ralking about retiring almost the entire lifetine of 5E), and for Lanzillo that a killer opportunity came up.

Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

WotC designers aim at pretty unoptimized parties, so as usual the stuff could probavly use buffing up depending on the party and players

Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

Yeah, thst is how I would want to tun this, too...however, that could be a very nasty surprise, even a TPK depending on how much it catches the players off.

Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

I appreciate the mix of standard "go into the Dungeon amd kill the Dragon" models with weird creative choices here: the latter are kind of necessary to get the adventurers at cross purposes with the Metallic Dragons.

The First Rule of David Fincher is You Don't Rank David Fincher

As a Fincher movie, yes, it is lacking. As an Aliens franchise piece...it is miserable. But as a sci-fi horrro movie? Pretty drcent, with some very interesting elements. One of the best things I ever saw in theatres. It made sense of my own lived experience as an early adaptor of Facebook, and...

WizKids to Release Adult Blue Dragon Figure Based on Dragon Delves

The alt cover is really a beautiful addition to the shelf.

So, picked up the alt cover last night at my FLGS, have a cursory look through. Love the art. Appreciate the little history sections. I love the setup of the Black Dragon Adventure

WizKids to Release Adult Blue Dragon Figure Based on Dragon Delves

I like that Dragon Delves shows the evolution and history of the visual design for all ten archetypes: really highlights that there has always been some variety in the depictions, even with common theeads.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

Yeah, Monk or Ranger Subclasses would need a lot of rethinking.

    Yup, exactly, that's the fun.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

I tell you what, this theory does seem more and more plausible. I wonder if we might see a boatload of new Level 1 Feats and Backgrounds, too...

Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

Sure, but something will happen next. A prewrittem adventure can't account for every possibility, and if it took no risks wouldn't be much fun.

Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

Any pre-written Adventure is going to have some failure points thst cabn go sideways: failing forwards through thst is a bug part of the magic thst makes TTRPGs different from computer fames for me.
