D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

People get weird about the Dragon Heist thing: it isn't as Heist-y as the Golden Vault advebtures, but it does have a bunch of urban skulduggery. Good enough for government work. Icewind Dale does have a ton of weird survival horror aspects. Spelljammer was good, but could have been better...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

It wasn't the marketing, it was Perkins talking about his design plans...he is gone, but that isn't likely to be something that changes in the next couple of years of product Venger is rising.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Thing is, there us already a vague abd undefined "Cult of Chaos" originally behind the Caves of Chaos...and Venger and the League of Malevolence would fit in. And we were told those characters were part of a longer product plan.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

I still think Venger is going to be the BBEG in the Starter Set...but we'll find out soon, I guess?? It would make sense out of how prominent he is in the DMG.

Dark Horse Reveals First Dungeons & Dragons Comic

One of my main criticisms of the novel, which I would categorize as "kind of fun" and "not terrible" overall...is that in the book, she could have been built like a supermodel, and it wouldn't have changed anything in the characterization?

    Big plus, frankly.

Given Robert Jordan's interests and style, I would not be at all surprised if Vanin was based on some real historical archetype, too. Large people can be nimble and sneaky.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Based on prior years, I think they will begin talking about it after Dragon Delves drops. They usually talk about books about 3 or 4 months in advance. Dollars to donuts it is a Ravenloft supplement, similar to how Fprge of the Srtificer supplements Rising from the Last War.

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon US book sales rank.

Still, probably not unrelated, if it is goijg through a toy distribution channel.

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon US book sales rank.

Yeah, they recategotuzed the core books as toys...which seems to have been about limiting Amazon's undercutting FLGS (and WotC direct sales...) pricing.

I backed the KS and have all the books, dice and other stuff. Haven't found a chance to play it, but my 8 year old is obsessed with The Last Airbender and is interested, so I think we'll make a go of it. The mechanics are a bit dense and...lingo-y? Interested to see how it works in play, based...

Dark Horse Reveals First Dungeons & Dragons Comic

It's pretty standard D&D stuff: the novel wasn't anything to write home about, but it was clean fun.

I derped while typing. I meant Gold dwarf.

Dark Horse Reveals First Dungeons & Dragons Comic

The Fallbacks novel was similar in tone to the Honor Among Thieves film, or other D&D media in recent years. So, not unserious, but plenty of humor and zaniness.

Cazrin, she is a Human Wizard who is obsessed with increasing her magical knowledge. You, he is a Shield Dwarf Cleric. Narratively, his character is about negotiating deals with various deities when a Spell is needed, sort of a haggling merchant polytheistic Cleric. It was interesting in the novel.

Yeah, I did read the post: just thought I'd throw the figure out there, since I knew it.

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone else surprised they didn't do a Forgotten Realms Feats, Spells, and Circle Casting UA?

They have shown some willingness to bring some small Setting specific bits in without UA testing (Wildemount, for example). I can imagine that the Feat elements they have planned are basic enough and tied enough into established FR lore that they don't feel a need to publicly test little bits...
