D&D 5E (2014) My Players Didn't Like 5e :( Help Me Get Them Into It!!

Yeah, I think 5E is a very solid system with a lot to like, but those who love 3.x/Pathfinder magic item rules and more rules overall (rather than DM fiat) may struggle with 5E. For me, I think the perfect D&D lies somewhere between 5E and Pathfinder.

Greg - (if you can answer) when you worked on Midnight, how was the attrition from the beginning of the line to the end of it?

One Year Later: D&D 5E PHB & MM Still On NYT Bestseller Lists

Yeah, I think it's an issue for long-time players that have loved option-rich editions like 2E and 3E. I haven't played 5E, but I think it's a good game. However, when I read the books, I want to see more. The sorcerer options, for example, are extremely limited. One Monster Manual? Not...

D&D 5E (2014) What to do if a player keeps reading the adventures

Either do what KM suggests above (get them to DM), or just eliminate the player from the game.

    Catching Up With PATHFINDER ONLINE

Yeah, that's a concern I have as well. I mean, they are asking about $180/year for something that just doesn't seem to measure up by any standard. I guess those that are really in love with Golarion will find something to like, but I have yet to see very many fully positive reviews by those...

Wish I was more excited about PFO, but I haven't seen anything that makes me want to play it.

Goodman Games Kickstarts Two New 5E Adventures

I'm guessing - and this is totally a guess - that they were probably hoping for more than 636 - about 1/4 of which were PDF only. However, maybe now that 5E's official release schedule is so light, it will improve sales for them down the road. Not specifically, but, for example, when...

Goodman Games Kickstarts Two New 5E Adventures

Frog God Games is, I believe, in the process of deciding whether or not to make more 5e compatible products. The response to their 5E kickstarters seemed to be middle of the road... Enough to do more, but not enough to dive in with abandon. Since Goodman is kickstarting these, I'm sure they...

WotC's Nathan Stewart: "Story, Story, Story"; and IS D&D a Tabletop Game?

I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy 5E much better in CRPG form than TT RPG form because for tabletop I love options. Not enough yet for my taste with the RPG (and apparently not for a long, long time). That said, I think the new ruleset will rock with a CRPG interface.

Chris Perkins: Reintroducing Settings in Ways that Surprise People

I think it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Using the Unearthed Arcana articles to release players stuff for free and then using the released products to develop settings through adventures seems pretty cool to me. One of the issues I've always had with campaign settings is that...

Erik Mona on Paizo Releases and D&D 5E's Impact

5E might not impact Pathfinder negatively at all since the release philosophies are so different. In the last 8 months there have been 7 D&D RPG products. There have been 25+ Pathfinder RPG ones. If Pathfinder has continued to thrive despite the release of new D&D *core* books, Paizo will...

I may be naive, but I've always seen mearls as a straight shooter. (I haven't always *liked* what he's said, but I've never found him to be dishonest or deceptive.)

    PATHFINDER UNCHAINED at GAMA?

Yes. I have not yet played 5E, but I am intrigued by bounded accuracy and the advantage/disadvantage system in play. On the other hand, I really like the variety of options that 3.x/Pathfinder provides, which "official" 5E is not likely to have for many years, if ever. "Options not...

    PATHFINDER UNCHAINED at GAMA?

I think the perfect edition lies somewhere between the two.

At Least 4 Months For Conversion Documents

Well, since the D&D team is now so small, and since this is a free product, I can see how it would stay with one person as opposed to being reassigned (which they likely *would* reassign if the product was going to directly generate revenue).
